In this crazy world of beisbol... MLB type...it is the last embodiment of owner control ...really...as the other major sports are dictated by player conducive contracts...er, trade clauses...and more power to opt out...not so much in the old past time of the smaller pelota... No goofier than right here in San Diego...since we have been stationed in this fine city... the Padres have had a number of General Managers, batting coaches, owners, and a dwindling set of quality hitters ...and but one, count it, ONE, manager on the field...hmmm... The best coaches bend with the talent (or lack thereof) that they are given...find ways to play their best...hopefully win...and develop pride in the team and the city they represent...ah yes, that's where you get your $...eventually... So, how about SD?... the product has been diminishing year after year ...the new owners say it was the inept GM of the last regime...booted him out...and are doing a world wide search to get just the righ...

You just can't predict these things...as we were settling in to our seats at Humphrey's ...the open air venue that has a number of performers go through...we were waiting on the 5 acts to begin... "The Happy Together Tour" ... a gaggle of us type peops were ready...in tie dyed shirts...mostly in the 50+ range ...and then...out of nowhere came the powers to be...and this huge chair that was placed right in front of me...ala, the Mob has arrived...and someone special is to be placed...and yup, it was the one and only San Diegan, Bill Walton ...they actually put him to my right as to not block anyone's view...we were on the end... And I must say, the nicest guy ever ...he turned NOBODY down for autographs or pictures...and greeted all with warmth and humility... I told him he was a class act ...and his response? ... "No, I am the lucky one" ...he and his buddy repeatedly asked who these blokes were on stage...it took an imaginative mind to figure a few...

Morning kids...have some free time...and well, it's a good thing...for right now...my topic for the day is... THE LOOK ...what?...we all strive for it...you know... clean up...work out (?)...eat right...shave...cleanse...color the hair...botox...a little nip and tuck...a nose job or two...get bigger boobs...get bigger arses...straighten the teeth...get teeth...tan...fake tan ...well, you got it...the list goes on and on... It's like we want to look our best...or is it that we want to look like someone else? ...back in the day, there were mags that emphasized the pretty peops... LOOK, Life, Photoplay, and now, People, US , and on and on...and what THEY were wearing and how they dooded themselves up...well, that's what the public did too...if they gal wore a flip, so did you...if she cut it short and bobbed it, so did you... Totally needed for the Padres ...I mean the break from a MEAN season...the All Star game...was a good one...unfortunately, the SD pitcher, Huston Street, did not get in...as usual...our bloke sits... It was the last game as such for the great one... SS Derek Jeter ...and he had a couple of hits and a near fantastic play in the field...the bad part?...no acknowledgment for the players who had passed the past year...ie, the best Pad ever, Tony Gwynn...too bad...somebody had to watch over this... It's that time of year around here where the best youngsters play in golf T's...a bunch of them out at Sycuan ...and there are a load of coaches, too...for like 8-11 year old kids...hmmm...not sure if I like that much...some mighty fine swings, tho... Del Mar kicks off tomorrow...huge fields...and I am not going...but will watch via TVG...and might even pick a Pick 3, 4, or 5...you need to turn it on...it is a spectacle... Also, the British Open starts...and it is like on at 1 a...

There is a movement...albeit from a minority of peops... that would split the Golden State into SIX states ...what?...yup, could get on the ballot in 2016...will get enough signatures to get a vote...interesting...and we would def be called SoCal then ...ha ha...take that LA...imagine the flag of the US of A...some say that Nike would design it...and Adidas would have the rights to the poll... MLB gives us a respite for the 1st part of the season ...at least here in San Diego...as this team has sunk into historic depths in offensive production...makes everyone (who cares) a reason to search the record books to see if this is going to rewrite parts of them...has to be for the month of June, hitting (?) at a pathetic .171 clip...and are about at .213 for the season... Look at the latest...why not?...have a string of 23 straight scoreless innings...refuse to play small ball...and put out the most feeble of all 2B hitters ever...EVER!...more stat looking if you want...I could go on and on... On the other hand... the pitching has been FANTASTIC ...keeping the team in games that ordinarily are goners...I won't lie to you, it's hard to watch this version...and I, for one, can not sit and do so...I will turn back and forth...occasionally...my golfing buddies?...no way... the adjectives used out at the club for the Padres are an indicator of the growing malady of the f...

Good morning, kids...just had two nights of concerts...sandwiched in was a glorious round of golf...and I must talk about the best of the best...ah hem, not the hacking... Boz Skaggs ...this time the venue was the outside one held by the San Diego Symphony...on Mission Bay ...just a few blocks from us...the weather was perfect...there was a bright moon out...and we had tables in the champagne section...thus, had waiter service...the acoustics were terrific...and Boz was spot on... He sang ALL of his hits +...and was obviously having fun...and it transferred to the output...I could listen to "Midnight Train To Georgia" over and over... we were with the Mackles and Allens ...split 4 bottles of wine and a couple of starter plates...man, to say it was near perfection was right... the night could not have been better... On the other hand... Cher ...hmm... repeatedly told us she was 68 ...we saw her at the Sports Arena...inside venue....and the AC was barely working...been hot ...
