It's that time of the year, here at Del Boca Vista ...not only Xmas, oops, sorry, Christmas...but, the annual charity drive for the donation to the concierges ( and staff, I think)...the time allotted has been extended due to the lack of participation by the owners...we seem to have more sticky wicket folk this year... maybe they are donating their hard earned cash to Jill Stein instead ....you know, to get a recount on the recent election... And...spots have opened up on the association board ...every community has 'em... the people's republic of governing ...kind of intrigues moi...hmmm...I have heard of a couple of interested parties...and why not me?...well now...let's look at it...to get elected you have to live here...check...have to have a platform...check...what?... The one thing that you are not gonna get in SoCal, namely close to the beach...is SNOW! ...however, you can drive 45 minutes or so east...and there she blow.. . Julian has more of it than what we got when we lived back in the Willamette Valley in Orego n...really...it takes a bit of winding drive to get there...but there you go... SNOW! ...maybe my opening statement was a bit on the wrong side... Weird happenings down in the GQ ...hot and cold spots...like restaurants...it's a tuff business and there are more closings than I can remember ...odd, as more and more peops are moving into these high rises...and more and more of them are being built...if you haven't been here in the last decade, you will be shocked...it's a mini-NYC ...and growing... One restaurant that has stood the weary parts of time ... Las Hadas ...is dynamite!...the food is outstanding...the owners are right there...and great...mostly Mex-Tex, I suppose......make that Mex-SD ...the best fajitas ANY...

Morning kids...it's a brand new month! ...which mostly means to me right now, that I have to pay them damn bills...grrr...but, really, this is the festive one of the twelve...lights, music, family, all in one...cool... I have been pretty silent about the members of the cabinet picked by the Prez-elect Trump ...but not sure what I need to say about the pending doom of one of them...your lady from Alaska...and former VP candidate.... Sarah Palin ...as to lead the Veterans Affairs...hmmm...really?...well, at least she is not a heart beat away from being the leader of the country... Kudos to the new coach of the Lake Show ...who has this rag tag team at .500... Luke Walton ...has 'em playing decent D (tough sell in the NBA) and passing the ball around...now that Kobe has departed...has decent depth and can win away from LA...good on him... No news out of Eugene ...there are as many rumors as there are freckles on me face...so many blokes named as possible HC...seems to me,...

The Ducks made it official...they announced that they have let their HC Mark Helfrich, go...er, fired him ...all accounts have him as a great guy...just did not work out in the business of college football for this time...it is a BRUTAL business, kids...it's all about winning...and more so, RECRUITING! ...there you go... Speculations ...that the next guy...is gonna be....well...there are lots of theories... last night ESPN listed 8 possibles ...geez...I have no clue...however, it has to be quick...as this is 'hunting season' , er the time that the coaches scour the country for athletes... I think they have a coach in their hip pocket ...who?...dunno... Yesssiree Bob, when is the last time you really, c'mon really, did all your Xmas shopping in November?...got yourself a jump start on the rest of the peops...finding just the perfect gift for your...family, I guess...this thing called ' Cyber Monday' ...shoot, there is a name for each day of this week...all...on the web net...hmmm...how many ads do you get to your cell phone?... BTW, who still has a land line? ...probably if you still live in a rancher...that you bought 20+ years ago...I digress... Used to be...not THAT long ago...that this day was filled with peops running into stores...to catch the deal of deals...not as bad as Black Friday , but the businesses had to find ways to lure you in...now, it's mostly the Amazons, Ebays, Macys (yup!), and on and on of the world ...that trigger you to go on their web site...and YOU buy...right?... OK, call me THAT guy...who finds this pattern of football boring ... both college and pro ...sorry, you purists...but ...

It's the end of Rivalry Weekend for college football...and it was a doozy!...the state of the game has reversed itself to 'smash mouth' ...if you are bigger, stronger, and faster...you will win...no better example than the leader of the nation, Alabama ...who beat Auburn in their annual battle... strength versus ingenuity ... In the last decade there was a strong push by the 'have nots' of the game, to improvise ...find a way to compete at this level...the emergence of the 'fast break' style was the apparent answer... Chip Kelly and his Ducks were one of the firsts ...others soon followed... Oklahoma St, Texas A&M, Auburn...then others ...I recall the old school coaches were miffed...ie, the one and only skipper of 'Bama,, Nick Saban ... who called for reform to these dudes who were wrecking 'his' game of football...
