National Card Playing Day

Yea, so this reminds me of the past around Christmas time, back in my youth...NATIONAL CARD PLAYING DAY...we would sit around mom's old oak dinner table...and play cards...her fav was 'Pig'...she just lurved giving me the razz...and got such delight in seeing me lose...ha ha...can't recall the name of the other...but, it was one that she would treasure the moment of giving me the Queen...she would laugh and laugh...how I miss those moments...

Now...card games have gotten serious...poker...for big bucks...not my style and am not sure I trust anyone playing the game anyway...most are at either Vegas, Tahoe, or Reno...but that may be overrun by the huge amount of NA casinos all over this Nation...I'm sure I am going where I shouldn't, but who actually runs those anyhoo?...

In later years, we had a group who would gather and play a myriad of poker and card games...nickle-dime-quarter stuff...it was fun, and I had a jar of coins used specifically for it...now, all those guys...are gone...sad really....all in the afterlife...gosh, that is really sad...

The last time I have sat and played any card games...Vegas...Black Jack...Let It Ride...that's it...been like a year...as the song goes 'The Thrill is Gone'...song by B.B. King...

Another shooting...this time in Colorado...at least 4 dead and countless injured...in and around downtown Denver...motive?...killer?...dead...and the beat goes on...

I know I know...I am being repetitive...but...the numbers of athletes that are testing positive for Covid, are off the charts...one vaccine is not enough, dudes...

So I went out to golf yesterday....greeted by Big Jim, that there are no power carts allowed on the course...which means, if I'm gonna hack...I need to push my cart...which, I find out, has no breaks...yup, survived walking 18 holes...am laid up today...almost had my 4th hole in one...inches away...had a 2 1/2 foot side bender, which I missed, naturally...hack...almost an Ace...almost...

You still get periodicals...like magazines?...more of that written words stuff...I do...the AARP...Wine Spectator...and the Costco Connection...

We have the heat on...53* out...almost freezing...and I looked down at the pool, and a bloke is swimming in it...the king of the aquatics...

Odd happening in the NFL...a team that is on a high...the Miami Dolphins...as they now have won 7 straight...this after losing 7 straight...how weird is this?...

Man, it is hard to be a Blazer fan right now...they are pathetic...judging by the lack of people in the arena, the numbers attending are low...well, it has been snowing...but, I have noticed it the past 2 weeks...when it wasn't...lost to the Mavs last nite...badly...

Tonight, the Holiday Bowl out at Petco (downtown in the baseball park)...UCLA vs NC State...the cheapest tickets price?...$90!...you gots to be kidding...JCC...

As we approach the end of yet another year...I take heed to the fact that this country has monstrous divisions amongst it...the rich, the poor, the extremely poor, the racial divide, the inoculated, the non-inoculated, the Demos, the Repubs, the Religious, the non-Religious...the list goes on and on...somehow, I want this to end...to find a way to combine all these fractions into a whole being...this is my dream...
