We take the day off...you know where I am on this...back in time, my last respite of leisure before the onslaught of students...ha ha...a visit to the Oregon State Fair, for Scones, a pronto pup, some curly fries, yes, perhaps, a peek at the huge fish that was there, really, a saunter in the building that vendors were selling things like a knife that would cut ANYTHING, gawking at others, who were doing the same as me...take in a concert...then, a spot at the horse races...for a last hurrah...now THIS was Labor Day for moi!...
In actuality, well, that was real, too...but the day actually was first held in New York City in 1883...?...some say, 1882...whatever...a labor movement thang...the first state to ratify it and make it a holiday?...none other than Oregon...how about them apples?...the orchestrator was said to be Peter McGuire...others said it was Michael McGuire...the inception appears to be fuzzy...but whatever, it stuck...and we still celebrate it in 2020...wonder if there is a statue of either of those blokes, like, somewhere?...
The mighty Padres come on home, after posting a 6-3 win dominated road trip...no longer the laughing stock of the league, in fact, a REAL contender...arriving for the comp is the Buddy Black's Colorado Rockies...what we wouldn't do, for a Petco field crowd...
We have fires in Cali...one that is most disturbing for us in the SD area...out east in Alpine...smoke and ashes everywhere...even on our patio...
DJ making a near mockery of the Fed Ex T...cruising...but there is water, everywhere...so, it is not a slam dunk...just probably...there is water there, for them all...
The LaLa Lake Show beat the Beard and his Rockets...odd game...as the Lakers were dominant early, then the Rockets were...have never seen Houston play such hard D...but, Westbrook was a fish out of water, and was on the floor too much...mangled their momentum...I think that was the ONLY time in the past 2 seasons, that I was pulling for them...
It has been hot hot hot here...so not normal...90 something...enough for the Horse to beg out of golf for the day...I'm still working on the perfect ratio of beer and water in high temps...hydration, kids...
Not sure if I'm gonna get a Snooki song of the day...today...so, let me tell you about this song that just came out...I believe his BEST tune ever!!!...Tim McGraw's...L.A.....in his newly released album...not kidding ya...find it and play it...over and over...you will agree...orchestral feel to it...great lyrics (the words, Jared)...and terrific melody....hey, I am telling you the real skinny on this song...it is dyn-o-mite!
So...my intent was to make today's blog entry stress free...just reread it...yup, nothing that would stir the emotional fire of someone...mission accomplished...enjoy your Labor Day...
