Labor Day

'The last 24 hours of relief until...'...this was the mantra we had as teachers way, way, way back when...school started up the next day...and away we would go...to no surprise of anyone who knew back then, I would hit the State fair horse races one last time...ah, as long as I was not coaching football...LABOR DAY...that was then, and this is now...around here in SoCal, most of the students are already back in school...yikes, and there are so many districts that vary their start up...

Here at the home, there is the annual Labor Day party...guess we are all celebrating what it was like taking a day off...from work...ha ha...us?...packing for the Cosmo Trip...sure, we will take in the festivities for a while...I passed on the morning golf round, as there is so much to prepare for...and I would be gassed if I went out and hacked...smart?...maybe...

The hurricane Dorian, is making its way toward the mainland...if you can judge how catastrophic it is, by how it mauled the Bahamas...we are in for it...continues to be called a Cat 5...which by the way, Donny says he has never seen one before...I'm sure nobody on the southeast coast is celebrating Labor Day much...I am not a science guy, but isn't it odd, that the storm moves so slowly...but is generating such high winds?...must be a name for that...

MSNBC is running a show called 'American Swamp'...hosted by journalists Katy Tur and Jacob Soboroff...pretty sure the name comes from Trump's cry at his election rally in 2016...'drain the swamp'...more crap from his buddy, Roger Stone...anyhoo...the show tackles many issues that are out there in the political field...listen to me, kids...it is a MUST watch...find it and you'll see...

They did a section on the state of Montana...how they have altered the method of running for office...instead of what the US Supreme Court did for the country...found a way to HIDE contributions to candidates thru the 'Super Pacs'...a shame and sham for all of us...back to Montana...they have passed a total disclosure bill...that within 90 days of the election, ALL monies must be accountable...how much and who gave what to whom...AND...there is a maximum donation from any one source of $180!!!...guess what?...big biz went elsewhere...the lobbyists were done...

This is like out of nowhere...but, can you imagine being a singer...that never shows your face?...I mean, how can that be?...isn't that just kookie?...ha ha...that word reminds me of the 50's classic song...'Kookie Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb'...you do remember it, right?...Connie Stevens and Edward Byrnes...ah, do you remember her?...'I got smog in my noggin'...'...they don't write lyrics like that anymore...

For you really fine English language buffs...dang, most of you just quit reading...have you ever heard of the word 'emolument?'...gotcha...hey now...you might think it is a word for a monument of something...right?...wrong...its one of them used way back when the founders were writing up what one could do when elected to a high office in the land...that no elected official could profit by his or her office...of course, it comes up now...as Donny has dignitaries and well, the Chinese, stay in his hotel while in the USA...allegedly...'impeachment by emolumention'...I just made that phrase up...

Back to reality...when we were in the market for selling our condo...we were told to take everything down that was personal...repaint all the walls, generically white...hated it...now, that we are staying put...back up goes the stuff we like...thus, if you are guests in our pad, you will see the real P&M style, that you so lurved...

I love fog in the morning, as long as it burns off by 10...

The mighty Padres won the series up in San Fran...3 of 4...the bloke who was the MVP of the AAA Pacific Coast League...and former SDSU star, Ty France...finally got a call up...hit 2 dingers and is showing that HE should be our next 2b guy...not the one who is batting .178...duh, AJ, figure it out...

Lambasting...is the word for how the analysts are calling out the UO coaches...for their poor choices, not knowing the rules, and some mighty questionable play calling...O and D...get it together, guys...you are better than this...

I know most of the pixel channels won't cover this...but, the situation in Hong Kong, could be the next horrific event...

Wednesday is the next Demo debate...down to 10 wannabes...hope we have tv to watch it...

Forgot this...but we got our first set of meals from Freshly...listen, kids...they were GREAT!...a pepper steak, a turkey, and a chicken...the first two were wunnerful...really...

In the Sunday Trib, there is this Suduko Master Puzzle...a 16x16 massive one...which every single week, I attempt...yesterday was the day...I finally conquered it!...first time ever...

Justin Verlander...P of the Houston Astros...threw the gem of all...a no hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays...he has got them before when he was in Detroit...this, my good friends, is his THIRD!...ah, no Padre has ever had ONE!...you might know the bloke as the one who is married to Kate Upton...
