The air waves went ballistic yesterday...as the rich and famous were caught spending their cash on getting in their kids into college...by a number of means, like having someone else take the SAT's, giving collegiate coaches money, ah shoot, by whatever it took...so many different ways...to be candid, I thought that was a given...
College is now a big business...filled with corruption and greed...one doesn't have to look further than their football teams...the salaries of their coaches far exceeds the rest of the faculty...not even close...depending on the size of the school, the 'acceptance committee' spends all their time on figuring who and who doesn't get in...and I am talking about a humongous number of faculty that this is their only occupation...
Looking at the GPA, the number of advanced courses, the SAT, the ACT, the letters of recommendation, in some cases, the 'paper' the student wrote, and the picture of the wannabe...and, of course, who is the child a son or daughter of...all factors in the acceptance or denial...oh yea, and the ability to pay...a hidden item...when it costs upwards of $40 grand A YEAR in many of the colleges, it is part of the process...
I ASSUMED that the elite schools, like the Ivy League ones, routinely accepted the rich and famous kids...regardless of their high school prowess, er, grades...they could pay...and it would be a feather in their head dress to have a Kushner or Trump in the school, to proudly announce to the public...I digress...
So what might be the penalty that these people will face?...jail or prison time?...oh my, I hope not...a fine?...OK...but to equate incarceration for this, to someone who kills, or, colludes with the Russians is totally wrong...
I am not even going into the acceptance to these 'fine' colleges that bring in loads of athletes, that don't even come close to the GPA's, well, what the other non-athletic appliers have...and yet, THEY get in...don't tell me there isn't wiggle room...much of the sham, shall be shared by the colleges, kids...not just by the rich and famous...
