Hoopdom

As the guys collegiate hoop tourneys come to a close, there are a few of them mild upsets...BTW, with this bloody English language...all the rules...why oh why is the plural of tourney, tourneys and not tournies?...I don't get it...back to the games...in the most publicized league, Duke beat UNC...not a surprise...BUT, Florida St won over Virginia!...now that was...around here, well, in Vegas...SDSU continued their quest for the Big Dance, upsetting Nevada...in the Pac 12, the Ducks went to OT to handle the ASU Sound Devils...I figure it will take conference championships for both the Aztecs and UO to get in...good stuff...and, I think we have to watch Houston, too...

The Island Green T...ah, they call it the Players...aren't they all players?...anyhoo, the lowlight of the day, was as Tiger was moving on up the leaderboard, he succumbed to the 17th hole, the Island Green...as he dumped two tee balls in the water, on his way to a SEVEN...what?...not Tiger!...he rebounded and ended at -3 and is playing the weekend...the leaders...Rory came roaring home (sorry)...and is tied at the top...but his message that he let out has loads of meaning...that the 'players' take toooooo long to play...totally agree...he is tied with Tommy Fleetwood for the lead at -12...now both of these blokes are not great finishers...time for one if not both, to conquer that...

In a very selfish game, that the NBA has turned into...greed, personal records, bashing the coach, sitting out games to rest, just rest, and on and on...there came a very interesting item from the Spurs C LaMarcus Aldridge...a former Blazer...stating that he'd like to finish up his career back in Portland...instead of what so many of the 'players' have been doing...finding ways to reap big bucks in a large market team...this, my good friends, is mighty refreshing...

Marsh's Office Manager, PJ (does she have a last name?) was honored last eve, as she is retiring from her spot at Berkshire Hathaway...a great gal...my point is, I had 4 that I worked with in my time in the school system...they are the backbone to the whole operation...quite often enduring at least 3 staff changes...and yet, kept the school a working properly, regardless of the new principal's style...all 4 were the best...as is PJ...she did the same sort of thing in this real estate office...

I have mentioned in the past about the wonderful steak restaurants in downtown...ah, San Diego...as we went to one of the top 2 last night for happy hour...Eddie V's...the other is Flemings...terrific service and great food, with a 4 piece band playing...just a great atmosphere...

I have asked this question out loud...and NOBODY has an answer...anywhere...does the NBA keep track of what refs call the most, well, any technical fouls?...number of?...I know they keep track of what players get the most T's...anyway, last eve, a remarkable feat was achieved by one of the whistle happy blokes...he threw both head coaches out simultaneously!...the Clippers and the Bulls HC...give me a break...I will say this, am not sure how much coaching any of the NBA dudes do, other than swing their arms like a door closer, when they want a fast break...ha ha...like, who tells LeBron anything?...right...pass the ball, James...ah no...

More umps...spring MLB stuff...in a very low key atmosphere...sometimes it turns a little shaky...for instance one of the most highly questioned umpires is this bloke, Angel Hernandez...was behind the plate, calling balls and strikes...as Houston was one of the teams...the Mgr, AJ Hinch...calmly met with Angel after the 1st inning, saying that his strike zone might be a little off today...the ump said in retort, I miss 4 calls a game...they said their good byes...as AJ returned to the dugout...the first pitch was a possible blown call...ha ha...AJ bellowed out, 'Angel, that's your 4th!'...and for his 5th blown call, he ejected AJ from the game right then...spring ball...

Shall be a fine day to watch many, many sporting thangs....I am set...
