Topsy Turvy Football World

Well, out west...the topsy, turvy collegiate football is just that...depending on your allegiances...there were some mighty interesting, and telling games that went on yesterday...in no particular order...

1.  San Diego St beat Stanford...wait, let's restate that...SDSU BEAT STANFORD!...the Aztecs 2nd straight win against the Pac 12...as the Horse has been saying for a couple of years now...this is a very, very good team...pro style O...with a D that comes at ya...

2.  Oregon whups Wyoming...hmmm...a bit scared of this one...long trip to get there...a disastrous 2nd half against Nebraska...what type of team are the Ducks?...better than we think...

3.  Northern Illinois upsets Nebraska...losing at home is totally unacceptable...right, Coach Riley?...see above, but there was a sense that they had righted the ship in Eugene...nope...and this could be a very scary few days for the coach...

4.  USC in a couple of OT's to beat Texas...see number 2 above...how good are the Trojans?...geez, I thought the best in the land after their drubbing of Stanford...not so fast, Horse...there are some tests coming up...

5.  Clemson routs Louisville...the defending champs, played like that...and the Heisman dude...well, it takes more than one in this sport...the speed and size of the Tigers are amazing...and could be the top team yet again...

6. Ohio St dominates Army...appeared to moi, like a vahsity and JV match up...the Buckeyes were so much bigger than the Cadets...man for man...however, the heart of the team from the Hudson River is huge...

7.  Wash St clobbered the Beavs...this is a miserable...wait, my daddy said that if you can't say anything positive about a team, don't say anything at all...so, _____________________...

8.  Duke beat Baylor...what?...this is not hoops...really?...Snookie told me that the Blue Devils have been getting better and better...I had no idea...but Baylor?...wow...

9.  Mississippi St beat LSU...the rags have been touting the Loosiana blokes...a lot...that this team is for real...all that kind of gahbage...and then MSU pulverizes 'em...listen, all the good info is right here in the Horse blog...

10.  Utah beat San Jose St...fuggit about the Washington teams, this is the one that will be standing at the end...the Utes...used to be the 'Redskins'...and they changed up...anyway, they have the compete package...

That's my top 10 games of the week...and the results thereof...

BREAKING...both UO and SDSU have entered into the Amway Coaches Top 25...the Ducks are 24, and the Aztecs 25...

Other stuff...

Rumor mill has another chain store about to close shop...Toys R Us...what?...I recall the time that the catalog hit our house...son Cris would devour every page in hopes of getting just the right toy...it was the Christmas issue...now to be gone?...

My trip to the Apple Store paid off...as my iPhone is back to normal usage of the battery...you have no idea how much stuff is running on your phone...in the background...and you, er me, has no clue...

I am a laughing when the scribes hit the odious Bolts today...with their 27,000 screaming fans...NFL?...not for long, owner Spanos...not for long...

What I wouldn't do for a chocolate cake, or a carrot cake, or a...well you get me drift...and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream....been years, I tell ya...

Do the mighty Tennessee Titans have a shot at Jacksonville today?...only week 2, but it feels like a must win....

Time for some grub...the song for today?...'Get Over It' by the Eagles...

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
