Rivalry Weekend

It's the end of Rivalry Weekend for college football...and it was a doozy!...the state of the game has reversed itself to 'smash mouth'...if you are bigger, stronger, and faster...you will win...no better example than the leader of the nation, Alabama...who beat Auburn in their annual battle...strength versus ingenuity...

In the last decade there was a strong push by the 'have nots' of the game, to improvise...find a way to compete at this level...the emergence of the 'fast break' style was the apparent answer...Chip Kelly and his Ducks were one of the firsts...others soon followed...Oklahoma St, Texas A&M, Auburn...then others...I recall the old school coaches were miffed...ie, the one and only skipper of 'Bama,, Nick Saban...who called for reform to these dudes who were wrecking 'his' game of football...

Then there was this bloke out of Utah...who dabbled at a faster pace...was extremely successful...got a bump up to the University of Florida...where, speeds reigns supreme, if you recruit that state properly...won a couple of titles...yup, with a form of 'fast break'...then finally got the call to go to his home state...of Ohio...to resurrect the mess at Ohio St...riddled with NCAA sanctions and fines...you know the rap sheet...the out of control recruiting breakage of rules...that most schools commit...

Urban Meyer...yup, the guy...er, THE GUY, er the BUCKEYE!...has got his school back in prominence...has won a title...however...he has changed his game back to...'smash mouth'...maybe this year, too...as they beat Michigan in their rivalry frey...geez, a critical call in OT set the stage...spotting forward progress the difference...in the game...BTW, figure that even in the loss, the Wolverines will be in the final 4....mark my words...

And...another example in Corvallis, OR....where the Beavs pounded out a solid shellacking of them Ducks...in the driving rain storm in the 2nd half...UO wanted no part of the weather...and folded up like the team they were this entire season...'smash mouth'...it's the new, er old, style....get used to it...more like the NFL, kids....it's not too pretty, but very effective...if you have the horses...

I have no idea what the heck happened to the Aztecs...gave up 63 at home...HOME!...of course, it was raining...maybe that's it...weird, as SDSU is 'smash mouth'...and still...got hammered...by Colorado St....you know, I looked at the lines in Vegas...but wouldn't bet 'em...nope...

Other stuff...

What the heck is going on with putting up $ to recount the votes?...by the 4th contestant on the race for Prez...jumping aboard is the DNC...anything to scurry the system...get over it, dudes...try to make this place better, not worse...

KK's man, Kanye...what the ____!...so many rumors as to what has erupted in his system...psychiatric concerns...maybe other things...have no idea...but, you KNOW we will hear just as soon as it is diagnosed....and he wants to run for Prez...

Speaking of that...interesting that Bernie has emerged...trying to rally the Demos to put it together...regroup...and make that party a strength...rather than the mess that the DNC has rammed down the throats of their faithful...is he thinking that he may run again?...what?...certainly let's hope Hilz has had it...

Pro hoops...you know MY affliction for the Warriors...they are streaking...yet again...as good as last year?...right now, NO!...they are not as strong in the middle...and I will tell ya this...for all the incredible shots that Curry makes, his handling of the ball is poor...but...the addition of KD makes up for Seth's erratic play...

We spent the day...inside...as it was actually raining here in SoCal...put up the tree and all, er most, of the decorations...gosh, it is sooooo festive and fun...makes you feel so good...one month out of the year...now is the time to start shopping for moi....I want...wait, that's not what this paragraph is about...do buy the Amy Grant "Tennessee Christmas" CD, and I guarantee you, that it will put YOU in the mood...

I only have 'til Dec 4 to get out to Del Mar for them races...it is in me blood to do so...you know, I have NOT hit a Pick 5 this season...and get this...it was SNOWING up at Julian!...just east of here...unbelievable!...this is the place where we get our special apple pies...

Well, we are in the planning stage...we will host the kids for Christmas...we are really looking forward to this...as we were not together for Thanksgiving...bad planning...and duly noted...not too happy to not have the entire family together...but will at Xmas...good...

Finally, I shaved off my goatee...ha ha...it comes and it goes...geez, I'm looking more and more like Saint Nick with it on...so...voila!...gone...my FF team, Horse, is braced for another loss...looks like around a 50 point deficit, for the last season of the HC, Bradley Bohunk...we call him a 'lame duck' coach...he's gonna get the axe at the end of the season....hint hint hint UO....

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
