Ardor

I promise NOT to be sarcastic...this is my vow to you...Happy Valentine's Day!...well, not to YOU...but the day, indeed...is a day that is always needed...just not you from me...but this sentiment is from, or should be, from you to your mate....as the Idol judges said the other night...the times are changing...as they passed through a lesbian (self professed) singer...we all need love...so how do you think about that?...anyway...put your brain to use here...name the top 10 romantic singer or singers of all time...eegads...bet you'd have trouble naming one from this era...but me, being a baby boomer, I can list quite a few...here is mine, in no particular order...

The Righteous Brothers...at least 6 great ballads...and they were the mood setter of my earlier years in life...even popped on the record player their greatest hits album..."You've Lost That Lovin Feelin"...has to be one of the elite....and is there any better than "Unchained Melody"....

Al Green...ok, he did turn to the gospel...but...so many started there, so that's OK...says me...his style is copied by so many wannabes now...the best?..."Let's Stay Together"...

Carole King...romantic?...anything from her Tapestry album...and so many 60's ditties that she wrote prior to her singing herself..."Will You Love Me Tomorrow"...classic...by her after The Shirelles...who would be on the list if there were 11...

Frank Sinatra...c'mon...the best crooner of all time...if I said showman, I would have included Michael Buble...who did it both..."Witchcraft" is my fav of very many...

Barbra Streisand...never on any lists of this type...why?...one of the purest voices of all recorded time...I say that, because if you have ever heard a Native American pow wow set of singers...you would hear crying in their voices...really...I digress...for Barbra, "The Way We Were"...incomparable...

Sam Cooke...this is way back there...too...such a great flow to his voice...and catch some of his albums and you will see..."You Send Me"...darling, yoooouuuu send me...

Karen Carpenter...died from anorexia...as she was always battling...and yet, put out some absolutely gorgeous ballads...."Close To You" an all time mesmerizing one...right?...

The Beatles...set the stage for so many others...especially the Brits who had some single beauties...Gerry and the Pacemakers...the Searchers...Billy J Dakota...their best?..."Something", "Maybe I'm Amazed" (Paul, only), and "Imagine" (John, only)...

Bread...from the early 70's...had the market on the ballads for about 3 years...that magical number...their song of "Make It With You" should be all time top 10....

The Beach Boys...what?...everlasting....obviously when a boy band can last 50 years and still titilate the masses...and if there weren't a song that was better than "Wouldn't It Be Nice"...well, there isn't...

OK, there you go...there are others...Mary Wells...Stevie Nicks...James Taylor...Diana Ross...Minnie Riperton...Tony Bennett...The Everly Brothers...Carrie...so notice, I didn't name any of the country ones...

Mind teasers...you have a very amorous day, will ya...
