The Season of FIRE!




In the west, we have this season, different from the rest...Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer...it is the FIRE season...and we are just now in it...the lack of rain, and snow buildup in the mountains...part of the reason...arsonists, another...and then there is, mother nature...with the lightning...right now, the McKinney Fire...is in NorCal and Southern Oregon...largest such of the year, and thus, the season...we brace for it, up and down the west coast...almost, the inevitable...

Ya think we have global warming?...

What another terrific performance by Tony Finau!...winning in a romp at Detroit...the PGA...what, 26 under par?...geez...

We are in the hot month of August...definitely, the weather does change here in SoCal...easily our HOTTEST of the year in San Diego...the AC is on, lots...not dramatic, mind you, but in the 80's...throw in the Santa Ana winds...and it can be brutal...the FIRE season...

Let's get into it...we made the lasagna...it was a collaboration with the Boss, for sure...it was a lot more than 15 minutes prep time, as it said on the recipe...lot more...we used the noodle that didn't have to be boiled first...which were grand...BUT, added too much meat...sausage doesn't break down as well as the ground beef...kinda lumpy sauce....40 minutes covered, 15 not...and the result?...looked good...the layers held up...I'd give it a C+...not sure that Stouffer's frozen one isn't better...ha ha...no, really...

Well, that was the culmination of the pasta weekend...have to say, the Mac and Cheese, was the easy winner...

The Friars won the series with the Twins...3-2 in the finale...here's the deal...the closer was NOT Taylor Rogers...TG...and was Luis Garcia, who was marvelous!...and closed the deal...in comes the always difficult for us, Colorado Rockies...BTW, any news on trades?...nope, have another day...hmmm...

The passing of one of the all time greats in Pro Hoops...Bill Russell...at the age of 88...11 rings, I think...and what many don't know, he was a great analyst for the broadcast on the TV...a very infectious laugh...one word sums it up...respect...

You ever changed your own watch batteries?...well, if you are a youngin, and only know the iwatch...you have no idear what I am talking about...I have, and ordered via Amazon...batteries...cool...

The Mighty Carnac...here...I see a trip to DelMar in the near future...perhaps, Thursday...free and easy to enter, with a card...cheaper beer...cheaper dog...the perfect recipe for success...

2 things that intrigue moi...that I will not be convinced that there isn't what I think...?...(awkward)...that up there in space, there are creatures just like us...and that in our oceans, we have humongous fish, mammals, whatever... that are lurking...on a clear nite...like in Maui...look up in the sky...you see all those stars...yea, they are out there, kids...I tell ya...

Just when you were about to believe what the Horse tells you, he says the stuff in the last paragraph...

This is for you historians...in Poldark, the people would write notes and letters, using this easel type board...was this a truth?...or did they just use a flat table?...if the truth, these must be valued at millions of bucks, now...if true...

Do the MLB umps get graded?...they continuously guess on the outside pitch...'they'...not all, but more than a few...seems to me, that they would be more hesitant to call those balls, strikes...I dunno...hmmm, call them balls, dudes...

                    How about a hole in one, to start this month out...

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
