Black Friday

Morning...like real early morning...it's Black Friday!...the day after...Thanksgiving...the beginning of the Xmas shopping season...it is a season, right?...you ever wonder about why it is called 'Black Friday?'...

Seems to me, put black in the adjective mode, and it means something bad...well, other than people...but, it has signified some catastrophe...so, one would think that the connotation would be not a good thing...yet, it is...so there...you go...the history can be found like back in NY...the cops were upset at the amount of traffic that this day produced...called it 'Black'...retailers thought through it, and tried to rename it 'Big Friday'...didn't stick...oh yea, and Good Friday was already taken...

How are your malls doing?...the closing of so many department stores, can be devastating to them and the places that we, the consumer, can shop...the one closest to us, is almost a graveyard...Horton Plaza...so many stores closed up, it can be scary to be there at night...real true...

I recall the days that it took shape back in Orygun...the offering of early shopping hours for the huge savings on some 'doorbusters'...and the free cake donuts and coffee...well, how could you pass that up?...lots of peops scrambling about for some not so needed items, I recall...is this the case nowadays?...I don't think so...maybe in the smaller towns...

Well now...so much is done on the web net...the ads and the discounts popping up on the screen like never before...or to your email...20-30% is the norm...and right now, free shipping...geez, the poor concierge kids downstairs in our building...spend most of their time notifying us, that a package or packages have arrived...and please...PICK 'EM UP...if not, the storage area will be overflowing...true...

There are about 180 units in the building...think about the amount of stuff that is delivered...it's a different world...and that is the way that most peops shop now...via the web net...doesn't take long to realize why the local stores are...closing...

Me?...I like to look at the item and feel it...hold it...try it on, whatever...compare to others right there in the flesh....somehow that doesn't sound right...but, you know what I mean...yup, so I am the dude who is down at the remaining stores that are open...a gandering about...

Gone are the donut days, I suppose...but listen, kids...we have to do what ever we can to keep our local stores alive and well...

Other...

The 3 NFL Turkey games...the Soccer Chargers whupped the dilapidated Cowboys...this is real cool ( hate the Cowboys more than the Spanos team)...of course, it was the only one of the 3 that I didn't see a down...Minnesnowta and the Skins won the other 2...which I did watch...just a faint interest in them...as I only had a couple of my fantasy blokes going...and ahem, they didn't do too much...boo...

The Seasons 52 dinner was splendid!...the meal was...as we were seated amongst 200 of our non-closest friends...the turkey?...moist and perfectly cooked...the only two things not passing?...the cranberries...and no pumpkin pie...in lieu, they had some type of concoction in a shot glass...boo...

How about this...your gurl, who thinks she is funny...Kathy Griffin...says she is 'blacklisted' from Hollywood...hey, there is that black adjective...she is not funny...

I miss Downton Abbey...one of my fav shows ever...in fact, we just may watch a few episodes to get back in that era...it was enchanting...wait, is that right?...oh, well...

Got a memo from our dude who sold, er leased, us our Beamer...6 months to go...they offer stuff to re-lease...or buy it...hmmm, what shall we do?...

The NY Post has as their headlines this am...that there are brawls at stores in the pre-dawn there...for this Black Friday...really...donuts are gone?...

It's a tree put up day...and some Christmas music to get a going...
