In this crazy world of beisbol...MLB type...it is the last embodiment of owner control...really...as the other major sports are dictated by player conducive contracts...er, trade clauses...and more power to opt out...not so much in the old past time of the smaller pelota...
No goofier than right here in San Diego...since we have been stationed in this fine city...the Padres have had a number of General Managers, batting coaches, owners, and a dwindling set of quality hitters...and but one, count it, ONE, manager on the field...hmmm...
The best coaches bend with the talent (or lack thereof) that they are given...find ways to play their best...hopefully win...and develop pride in the team and the city they represent...ah yes, that's where you get your $...eventually...
So, how about SD?...the product has been diminishing year after year...the new owners say it was the inept GM of the last regime...booted him out...and are doing a world wide search to get just the right fit...
Alas, the wait is not good enough...as in the interim, there is a 3 headed monster running the trade barrel...and they figured they needed to act...pick out our best commodity and use him as bait...and get what they can...
Our best player thus far has been the closer, Huston Street...All Star...and yup, out the door he went...a trade to the Angels...forget what they got for him...an infield duo of prospects...always prospects...but the key is...moving without the newly appointed GM...a very, very bad sign...
Street?...a very good move for him...as he goes to a contender...and fits their needs...and will flourish...nothing like playing with a winner...
How did the heir apparent do last eve?...gave up the winning run...ah yes, the life of a Padre...player and fan...does this get better?...I'm a doubter...

The British Open...told the commish I am throwing this event...apparently so...as my pix are floundering about...no near the lead...the leader is Rory...dominating like so many thought he would, just a couple of seasons back...and the surprise?...the Puma kid, Rickey...as he is battling about and since getting the tutelage of Harmon, has turned his game up a notch...and who would ever pick Sergio?...good on him...
Some pseudo actors have shown some support for the Palestinians...I think they are trying to say that they felt for humanity...not the ideals...I think...whenever you have boots on the ground it is tragic...
A missile brought down a commercial plane...what?...no worse thing than that...there has to be beyond shame for some idiot to do such a thing...if you must fight, do so against another army...not innocent people...
Did you know the legendary RB from the Cleveland Browns, Jim Brown, retired when he was 29?...had no idea he was that young...an issue with him doing a movie...the NFL team said no way, and he walked...
Most of this blog today was lost...just vanished...hit the wrong button...and poof!...had to try to resurrect it...I'm sure not as well...
