State of the Union

Ah yes, the Presidential talk to the country...on where it is...what has happened, thus far...and where we are going...in da future...promises that one tries to keep...encouragement for us all...the 'State of the Union' address...hmmm, I can't think of any Prez in my lifetime that has been as scrutinized as this one...the unleashing of the media has changed things...imagine the headlines back in the 60's, if it was they way it is...NOW...

Not sure that there is going to be anything said, that we don't already know...and, I'm sure of this...that the Demos will never get out of their chairs for anything that he may say...it is a house divided to be sure...I fear that it will be uncomfortable at best...even the Republicans may have some issues...

Well, we will hustle on home from the golf to witness it...and then the barrage of retorts from the Demos will soon follow...ie, the SoCal peops, airing their disgust for Prez T...capping it off with the Jimmy Kimmel Show...what's not to look forward to?...

Other...

Jason Day did win the Farmer's...as his combatant watched in agony as his approach shot on 18, hit the bank just in front of the green...and meandered back into the pond...Alex Noren...and Day hit his wedge to a foot and a half from the hole...over...

We DID subscribe to one of them dinner in a box companies...Hello Fresh...we get 3 dindins for a week...delivered on Monday's...I'll do a report on the findings...and you, yes YOU, can be informed as to the quality...BTW, it's just one family's opinion...ha ha...

Some say that this was a 'blockbuster trade'...the Clip Joint sent their star, Blake Griffin, to the Detroit Pistons...for 3 dudes and 2 draft picks...NBA stuff, kids...I dunno what that leaves LA...their lack of size will hurt them for the rest of the season...essentially, they have thrown in the towel for 2018...weird move...the rumor mill is that they are also shopping their C, DeAndre Jordan...how long does HC Doc Rivers stay?...usually, this kind of action, is a precursor for the axing of the boss...

It's about time...

The history of the emblem on MLB's Cleveland Indians uniforms...is kind of interesting...here we go...in the late 90's and I am talking 1890's...there was this star of the Cleveland team...yup, they played MLB back then...who was hitting like .370!...and just so happened to be an 'Indian'...Chris Columbus's version...Louis Sockalexis...as time went on...the Cleveland team changed names as often as the KFam changes their faces...I digress...they decided to name their team after him, to honor him, and they were to be called the Cleveland Indians...

Ah ha, not so fast my good friends...there was another camp that said they were jealous of the Boston Braves...and to follow suit, named their franchise to mimic that team...nobody is claiming the real version...anyway, the point here is that the owner, Bill Veeck, remember him?...in the year of 1947...my birth year...hired a 17 yr old kid, Walter Goldbach, to design a caricature of an Indian...that the 'Indians' would use...

This is his product...they called it Chief Wahoo...I guess this was in some form a tribute to the Native American star of the past, Louis Sockalexis...that the team may have been named after...hmmm, do you see any resemblance?...well, the Chief got a bit refined over the years...cleaned up, one might say...

There is a point to all of this...Cleveland is now going to retire Chief Wahoo...I am sure the people will be in uproar...and stage a rebellion...and...well, enough of that, Horse...they have one more year of the Chief...it exits in 2019...

And THAT'S the rest of the story...
