NBA Draft...and MORE
For such a draft in the NBA that was supposed to be an off one...well...it turned into a night of surprises...starting with the top pick by the Cleveland Cavs...Michael Bennett of UNLV...what?...I saw them play plenty this year...and I just don't get that pick...even when he is healthy...which he is not...go figure...PDX picked another bloke like what they got last year...an unheard of kid from a smaller D-1 place...Lehigh...whatever...no big step...and they will flounder about again...
The big news?...the MORE part?...the trade of the Celts and the Nets...where Brooklyn gave up 5 guys and 3 number one picks for the trio of Garnett, Pierce, and the older shooter guy...throw in that they are to be coached by a newby...that just retired from playing...it will be an interesting team to say the least...are they better than the Heat?...lord no...keeping them free from injuries will be the big thing...
Surprisingly quiet were the Clips and the Lake Show...I think that their moves are coming soon...all the rumors about Dwight Howard...he will not be a Laker next year...and I say, "so what!"...he's a piece and good luck to whomever gets stuck with that act...he's a huge liability in the 4th quarter...and his mini-mind says he needs to be the go to guy...ha ha...good luck...can't make a free throw...amongst other faults...certainly not a closer...
The Pads have hit the road...to Miami...and I fear a very tough road trip...then to Wash and Baltimore...left not on a high note...very poor play by the closing staff...see above Dwight...yet...we are staying in 2nd place due to the other guys losing, too...WE MUST SPLIT...if we are for real...I have huge doubts...
It doesn't look like the Aaron Hernandez guy had many smarts going for him...I mean he signed for like $17 million bucks...and he allegedly did what he did...or had done...so sad...
If you listen to the pundits...if you are drafted in the 2nd round you are a loser...er, like a very long shot to make it in the league...NBA talk...however, I think PDX got a good one in their 39th spot...C Jeff Withey...a late bloomer out of Kansas...I really think he can play...mark my words...one more thing...not a fan of Shabazz...way over rated and is going to Minnesota...
