October


Must say that this year has gone so fast...hasn't it?...we are now opening up the month of October...so many things that just happened that I will try to cover...

Let's start with the Wild Card in MLB...important to you?...probably not...but, to us Friar fans, yup...as a most curious DH between 2 of the possible opponents were played in Atlanta yesterday....the Mets at the Braves (hey now now)...the winner of the 1st, was automatically in...NY did so, in a fun game...change of leads and all...and the 2nd?...a ho hum lack of enthusiasm by both, especially the first game winners, the Mets...almost like a colluded outcome for Atlanta...I'm sure nothing like that would ever happen...which meant that the DBacks were done for the year...anyhoo, the Padres host the Braves (hey now now)...one oddity of the aforementioned DH...no tomahawk chop...where has it gone?...anyhoo, today at 5:35 or so...

The hurricane Helene...the aftermath...over 130 deaths...all the way up to North Carolina...countless homes lost...businesses...lives that have to be restarted...a tragedy...and yes, the 'season' has just begun for the storms in the southeast part of the US...be at peace you faithful, trump was stomping in the debris, promising his lies if they would elect him...did he mention global warming in his babble?...BTW, what joker came up with the spelling and pronunciation of 'debris?'...debree...egads...as our Congress sends out 'our thoughts and prayers go out'...SOS...

Which was exactly what happened to the Verizon network yesterday...it was shut down for half a day...the only thing at the top of the phone was this....SOS....it is up and working now...but, what happened?...a Russian geek found a way to delay the works?...

The Middle East...here we go again...Israel has invaded Lebanon...hand to hand fighting...lord...what is this world coming to...kill kill kill...apparently there are too many people on it...so, let's eliminate some...

Did you know that there are 47 states with a town that is named 'Lebanon' in them...in the USA...really...why that name?...the reason, is that Lebanon was recognized in the Bible...so when the city was named, that was it...so, the way the Horse sees the phenomena...after the white eyes stole the land from us Injuns, they used the Bible for the name...and to make matters worse, in Orygun, they actually called themselves 'The Warriors'...blasphemy...

Tonight we also have...a debate between the 2 candy men for VP...Tim Walz vs JD(just dumb) Vance...CBS hosts, and there will NOT be a fact check used...advantage Vance, as he can then propagate all them lies that he and Bozo have cooked up...this is to air, about the same time as the Friar game...Boss will be in one room, and me, in the other...I reckon...

Breaking...US East Coast dockworkers are on strike...which means the goods that we normally need...will be sitting in the those semi's...just sittin there...awaiting...you know, the stuff that comes from?...well, where are they coming from?...

The passing of some famous pro stars...Dikembe Mutombo at the tender age of 58...brain cancer...he was a huge hoop star...Pete Rose, at the age of 83...he was the hit maker of baseball...and was almost more known for betting on the game, while he was involved...and thus, was shunned from the HOF...and some other stars....Kris Kristofferson, at the age of 88...and Maggie Smith, the star of Downton Abbey, at the age of 89...RIP...

So, at the links yesterday...a weird thing...I noticed in the tree above me, a hummingbird...and I gazed at it...such a cool bird...he (she?) buzzed down and looked me in the eye...we were staring eye to eye...he was definitely in helicopter mode...for about 5 seconds...I thought he (she?) might come and peck my eye out...he (she) did not...was this a reincarnation of some one in my past?...that is, if you believe in things like that...

The USA did win the Prez Cup...with vigor...as the singles matches proved again...that the local lads are loaded...really impressed with Sam Burns, Xander, and Patty Ice...cinches for the next team, the Ryder Team...

Well, I missed you yesterday...as the tee time was ridiculously early...the grounds are wet...the ball doesn't roll...I have to rush out to the course...just wanted you to feel sorry for me, as I go to work...

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
