Do You Hear What I Hear?

Yes, I am heading the blog with songs of the Holidays...ah, why not?...chances are, most people are not in the festive mood...well, you GET in the mood...wait, I have already used that...so, I am going to be the one that pushes it...there are so many great and recognizable tunes for the season...

'Do You Hear What I Hear?'...this one was written in the year of 1962...ah, recall what that year was all about...lyrics by Noel Regnay and music by Gloria Shayne...written as a plea for PEACE during the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis...again, the 1st person to make it famous was that 'White Christmas' dude, Bing Crosby...covered often, but you must hear Carrie Underwood's version...

I am going to take you all over the map today...bear with me...one of those informative sessions...perhaps, not, if you are aware of the world...but, just in case...let's go into the Middle East...right, you don't want to...

There is a very important sea of water that bisects many countries of interest...the Red Sea...that many nations use to traverse...through...oil, kids...oil...and if you look at the eastern side, at the bottom of it...lies this very important, and yet VOLATILE country of Yemen...

A brutally run land, that has had many leaders, coups, and changes...so here we go...there is yet another marauding group that has been causing havoc...from Yemen...which has their backing from the country that backs most all of the vigilantes...Iran...they call themselves the Houthis...

The Houthis...they emerged in the 1990's, following the lead of their leader, Hussein al-Houthi...thus, their name...and how are they affecting the Red Sea...they are acting like pirates and attacking ships trying to get thru the Red Sea...and they are stronger than one might think...

So...there are 3 factions of hate and distrust of us, and Israel...the Hamas, the Hezbollah, and the Houthis...all of them backed by Iran...probably Russia, too...but, that is just conjecture...

'Hey Mr. Custer, what are we doing here?'...the Natives knew...think about that for a minute...

Continuing with the map thang...it's Tuesday, so time for a small town caper...so, if you continued on west on the Hwy 40 from Twitty, Texas...after a spell you would run right into our chosen city of the day...Gallup, New Mexico...not to be confused with Old Mexico...

Let's do a lesson here...that you may already know...you see the way the highways are set up in the country...ah, the USA...all even numbered ones, go east and west, er west and east...and the odd numbers go north and south, er south and north...so, if you are ever out of sorts, like in LaLa Land, just recall this...unless, the bloody people go ahead and name the highway something, or after somebody...then, that may be a problem...and BTW, you DON'T have a map, do ya...

Back to Gallup...it's also on the infamous, historic Route 66...and you are WAY UP THERE, kids...elevation is 6,647 feet...more than a mile high...bring your oxygen...it is known for it's Native American jewelry...like 70% of all, is made here...Native Art...also, considered one of the most dangerous towns in the USA...the breakdown of peops...white 25.6%...American Indian 47.2%...Hispanic Americans 31.7%...in a town of 22,000 peoples...ah, well, it came to be as one of them railroad towns...that you white people just had to have...on your way to the west coast...films shot here?...The Lone Ranger...Indiana Jones...Starman...No Country for Old Men...in closing...the sentiment is, be real careful at night...all aboard!...

Geez, now I can't tell if I am in a good mood, or bad one...I just read about a Carole King Holiday album...this I don't have...and need...and will be on the prowl for...she released it in 2011...love Carole...and guess what?...she has 'Do You Hear What I Hear' on it...
