The Civil (?) War Game

For many Oregonians, all over the map...THE football game of the season
...is the once called 'Civil War' between the Ducks and the Beavers...to be fair, it is not war...that's a polar opposite of an euphemism for all the sports writers...and fans, I suppose...it is a game, kids...a good one, usually...depending on the weather, often...fuggit about point spreads, these teams are all equal once the guys hit the turf...

Of course I pull for the Ducks...and throughout the state, many pull for the Beavers...it's OK...bragging rights?...for sure...implications for tourney or bowl games in the future?...you bet...however, the good coaches emphasize the 'one at a time' theory...and this plays out on the field, and NOT in a room with people voting...this is a good thing...

Hey...the one rumor that is not talked about much...is that the OSU HC, Jonathan Smith, is being highly touted...as a possible, make that viable, candidate for one of the plum jobs in the SEC...listen, if anyone is deserving it is him...he has made that program a success...furthermore, no one knows what is going to happen with the 2 PAC...

Kick off is around 5:30 pm, in Eugene...at Autzen Stadium where it NEVER rains...today, er tonight...

Now, the real war...

This is the day that there could be a cease fire...with the hostages exchanged...it could be...50 for 150, is the hinted amounts of people...people, kids...you know, I did not realize that this sort of thing happened back in 2011...when there was an exchange of 1,027 Palestinians for ONE Israel soldier...I was writing my blog back then...I do not recall that...fingers crossed that the exchange does happen...pawns...

Not a lot of info on the Putin War in Ukraine...funny how that takes back seat to the Gaza one...well, not so funny...it is war...and the pawns die...Horrific leadership, again...

Anderson Cooper did a report on the Kibbutz slaughter...and the hostages taken, on that October morning...it was chilling and for all those who are defending the Hamas...well, you are simply wrong...leadership can be terrifying...and who pays?...the pawns...

Thanksgiving Day...

It was a very calm and subtle day for us...Boss did all the fixings early, and I put the turkey in the slow cooker...to be ready around 4:40ish...these early damn dark days, just throws me all off...the NFL games, the 2 I watched...were fine...lordy, the Lions can't win on Turkey Day...and the Cowboys, have the softest schedule in the league...however, their D is tenacious...for some, this was a time to rate the 1/2 time shows...some dude who was trying to rap, in the Detroit game...awful...and in the Dallas one, it was Dolly!...not sure what to say...77 years young, and in a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader outfit...she sounded and looked great...I dunno...I just dunno...back to the  grub...absolutely terrific...the brined turkey breast the trick...

We got our real bikes all fixed up...air in tires and seats adjusted...and went on a real bike ride around the bay and downtown...two things...we got tired...and the downtown, so many businesses have shuttered...not just for Thanksgiving, but all time...ewww...we did this, cuz the city is banning the electric bikes on the bay front...where we ride...booooooooo...I guess their idea of a solution is to have the ebikes on the road with the cars, busses, trucks and whatever else....booooooooo....

Black Friday...

This leads me back to yesteryear...waking up early and going to businesses to try to get the loss leaders...donuts and coffee...now, it is getting on the computer early...Boss had one of those specials on GMA yesterday....and she immediately called...and guess what?...all sold out...are we on a 3 hour delay for that broadcast, too?...must be...dang...

Back on this day...when I coached...it was the infamous 'Turkey Trot'...the players hated it...ah, but it was a tradition...like when I played...I carried it on...and asked my guys, if any of you go into coaching...'it is your duty to carry this on, too'...the inference was, that they might eat too much...right...we might...

One last thing for the day...out I go to the links...and this is a tradition I can handle...and enjoy...
