Deep Purple

Good morning to you all, this fine Sunday, January 8, 2023...wherever you are....how is this new year treating ya?...do you have resolutions?...still doing them?...sure glad that the fiasco in DC has come to a close...well, sure, temporarily...it was great pixel watching while it lasted...this football thing has kind of taken over, since...who makes the playoffs is key for today...and way out west, like waaaaaaayyyy out west in Maui, the golf T is being supremely handled by one dude, Colin Morikawa...

But, today, I am into purple...like 'Deep Purple'...bear with me a tad...am going to learn ya a lesson...this was a pop song from the '63 and '64 era of tunes...a very unique sound that was the collaboration of Nino Tempo and April Stevens...even a number 1 hit!...alas, some of you heathens are crying foul right now...'Deep Purple' is a band...true, but not the one I am referring to...that one had 'Smoke on the Water' as it's memorable song...

Nino Tempo was a staple in the recording industry...a saxophonist that was part of many songs, covering many decades...in fact, he was part of the infamous 'Wrecking Crew'...who did the backgrounds for so many hits of the 60's...there is a movie about them, get it...it is way cool...back to Nino...his sis, April, changed her name to protect the innocent...Stevens...and they recorded a number of songs along the way...'Deep Purple' was their most popular...they went on to tour some, ah, to many casinos...like so many singers do nowadays...there are NA casinos most everywhere...thanks to all you heathens...

Their big hit, had them on vocals (duh) and get this...Billy Strange on guitar, and also, Glen Campbell...to then tie in YOUR group of Smoke...the Brit group 'Deep Purple' got their name from their guitarist Richie Blackmore's (his grandmothers favorite tune) 'Deep Purple', the same tune that we have started with...

And NOW you know...now YOU know...

I am not much of an analyst for college hoops...but Alabama sure looks like a real contender...as they mauled Kentucky yesterday...Calipari, the Wildcat coach, can woo em, but not much on game coaching...think I have said that at least 10 times prior...

Watched the defenseless play of the Lakers/Kings last eve...in Sac Town...won by LaLa...how they could possibly call a defensive foul in the game...to be the diff is beyond me...nobody played D, and certainly not then...YMCA, and the fans loved it...not sure why this isn't the song that ALL NBA ARENAS should now play as the theme song for the league...
