Oktoberfest

It is an adult world, right?...no better day, er week, than OkTOBERFEST!...for you heathens, it is not just in your city, country...it is like everywhere...we in the southern most SoCal have a number of the celebrations about the area...none better than in LaMesa...where we can get there via the trolley...takes ya right to it...have your jollies, then board up back home...coo...a beer or two, a brat...street fair...music...the Chicken Dance...aw, come on, what is more fun?...

Back in our other life, in Oregon...we went to one in Mt.Angel...where them Catholics held a boondoggle of one...huge tents set up for the occasion...the rest is the same...you HAD to have a DD to get home...designated driver...preferably a pregnant wife...I digress...yes, a good time was a norm...BUT...I have this thing for one of the cherished treasures you get there...an official Oktoberfest Mug...which you use for the imbibing, then carry on home to put on the mantle for fond remembrances...

There in lies the problem of the Horse...one year, back prior to the cell phone...had to make a call back home...and left the bloody mug...right at the phone booth...by the time I realized what I had done...went back and it was gone, duh...then, the last time we were there...just before moving down here to SD...got one and it was under lock and key in my booze cavern...took it out for a party we had, and a good friend BROKE it...I was devastated...so, yes, am still looking for a stein...an official stein...

A bucket list item?...ha ha...perhaps, we shall return for the festival there...to my knowledge, the LaMesa one here, has no such treasure...am still looking...

Moving on...

The disgust I have for Abbott and Costello, is beyond that...despise those two...Costello, is really the Floridian Guv, DeSantis....what a piece...who vows to ship the Latino people away from Florida...if this isn't human trafficking, then what is?...the FBI, on their way to Mara-Lago, should just stop by Tallahassee and put that bloke in chains...and board him on one of his own planes...to Guantanamo Bay...

Terrific Friday nite football game...Florida St at Louisville...nothing like college stuff...FSU survived...and are 3-0...who predicted that?...

The Friars in yet another must win...this time did so, as Drury led the way with 2 dingers...and our SP Snell, was downright awesome....a 12-3 win...wake up time...and keep it going, Pads...

One of my very best players of all time in beisbol, Cliff Cotton, was honored by his high school...into their hall of fame...if the Horse had a 'Horse Hall of Fame', he would be in it, too...I started him as a 7th grader on my varsity team...the only lad to ever get this...he was simply marvelous...gosh, he was on a terrific team...we won most all games...

So our internet and tv provider, COX, had a loss leader and offered a new modem that was faster than the ancient one I had...so, it arrived in the mail and was considered a 'quick setup'...don't ever fall for these lies...ha ha...turned out, the one that they sent out was flawed...so 'they' told me to go to the 'COX Store' for a replacement...so, took the Boss with me and out we went...their service center is simply FIRST RATE!...they greet you at the door, actually open it for you...and immediately address your problem...this agent not only replaced it but, set up my bill for $60 less a month...have their latest combo wifi and modem...took it home and within 5 minutes it was blazing on...and now, the Horse is happy...

I think it is important to praise companies when they are doing things right...we spend so much time on the negative...when one, like COX, does it right...it should be in print...

Sara Evans is going to be at Pala for a Christmas Concert, December 3rd...should we go?...yes, it does seem like we are groupies for her, The Beach Boys...and Boz...

You know, as we start our 48 year anniversary celebration...tonight it is a dindin at Morton's...Monday-Wednesday in LaLa Land at Laguna Beach...and the bobblehead peops have sent me their head shots of us...kind of funny...we think back to our Sammi...who spent 17 years with us...a bit over a third of our time together...and ALL of our retirement...which made it so hard to see her go...bear with us...

Now, it is time for Game Day...the ones that tickle us the most...Oklahoma at Frost less Nebraska...Cal at Notre Dame...BYU at Oregon...Mich St at the Dawgs...Montana St at OSU...Miami at Texas A&M...SDSU at Utah...

GO DUCKS! (12:30 pm)...wear black, if you are going...

Coach Shep, I mentioned you in my South High Hall of Fame Speech as being one of my favorite coaches and thanked you for being an inspiration.
