The Gulf of Mexico...this body of water that is so destined to produce mountains of flooding and hurricanes...settled between the US and Mexico...just churns out these disturbances more and more...often...add to the natural thing of where it is, this global warming phenomena...that the World could have prevented...but did not...

We have to deal with the here and now...as the latest storm, Ida, the 9th this season...will hit Louisiana today...the weather people say it will be a Category 4...5 is the worst...may hit the low areas of the state...like New Orleans, which is actually below sea level...and then travel north...have you ever been in the path of these?...I have not, but have been in the horrific southeastern thunder and lightning ones...awesome, in so many ways...awesome bad...

All the while, the west would do anything for some rain...that fire up in NorCal is approaching Lake Tahoe...absolutely devastating...

Started a new to us mini-series....that lasts 6 seasons...so much for mini...'Longmire'...kind of cool...the setting is in Wyoming...wild Wild West...that borders on the Rez...reservation for you heathens...contains some crossover stuff...from the lead, who is a sheriff...to the Rez's police...at least it has kept our interest...

Catastrophe in Padre land...another blow out loss...doesn't make too much difference to whom...BUT, the telecast last eve was from FOX...that does not have the analyst or color guy, paid by the team franchise...so, the bloke, former star player of the Dodgers (Bums) and the Cubs...Eric Karros...tells it like it is...SP Weathers has no right pitching in August, for a team in the playoff hunt...questioned strategy and for goodness sakes the moves of GM AJ...that the firing of the pitching coach was a joke...as the guy was one of the best in the biz...made a scapegoat by the brass...I'm sure he had other points, but I had to turn it off...as the score mounted...10-2...sorry about this correlation, but the Friars are about in a Cat 5 storm...

A story...not fiction...but, yes real...the names have been omitted...cuz...just cuz....a fellow teacher told me that we would not ever had been friends back in his homeland...he was from Nebraska...that Natives (Indians, Injuns, Savages, Indigenous people) were not to be trusted...as he lived close to a Rez...to be perfectly candid, he did look at me like that...kind of a 'I'm better than you' thang...until he coached with me...and times, when I was talking from the heart...I could see he was in to it, just like the players were....he learned that people were people, regardless of the color of their skin...well, I think he did...

Which brings me to this...do the people of Afghanistan want to be left alone?...very similar to a Rez?...have their own laws...and govern themselves the way they want?...don't we all want that?...most have more democratic ways...but, then again, is it our duty to teach them a better way?...think about this...some times I see this with religion...'I feel like this, and you should too'...'and if you don't, you are wrong'...hmmm....really?...

Escapism...in the past year and a half...it is what is needed...the World's problems are all around us...turn on the tele and most everything you see is about death and dying...you want to be informed, but when is enough enough?...so you turn to something else, if you can...movies, books, drugs, drinking, eating, watching sports, and my fav...music...
