Just Another Day at the Park

The opening day for me
, well, my first glimpse at this season's mighty Padres...got invited to go, via a season ticket holder...and the Dude's wife unable to...thus, my luck...as we trapzed on over to the old ball yard, er Petco Park...some 10 blocks away....sounds long, but, it's not...stopped at a watering hole, just to refresh our system before getting into the $10 a beer range, inside...

It takes an app to do everything now...the tix?...on an app...the food?...order via an app...the beer, er refreshments?...via an app...what if you don't own a smart (?) phone I ponder...

Anyhoo, we are in the upper level of the old Metal Supply building...take a person operated elevator up...and saunter over to the 'seating'...must admit, it is a wide open space...which did include it's own food and beverage station...ah, closed, via the pandemic...and then, get this...the usher told our season tix holder...'ah, your table is the one in the back'...with NO VIEW of the playing field...you watch the game via the television screens...what?...

I will call the season tix holder our host from here on out...our host bickered with the usher, who said 'I can offer you an exchange for these seats, with some out in left field...which were white picnic benches...also not viewing the field...but a big screen'...our host went ballistic and went off to talk to management...as he muttered 'this is no way to treat a season ticket holder'....

In the 3rd inning, that's right...it took our host that long to get this thing straightened out...and they gave us primo seats down on the field level...which you are seeing what we saw with my blog pix for the day...there is no doubt, due to the persistence of our host...as one might say, from the out house to the penthouse...

The game...yes, there was a game...was a pitcher's duel...with Yu Darvish and the relief corps winning out...on a 2 run homer by our catcher...I mozied on home in the 8th...and saw the ending on the tele...

One more thang...which I can't say too loud, as our host got these for us...yes, he missed another inning doing so...the app was bewildering...the dog was cold and the beer was warm...but we ate and drank like they were hot and ice cold...and gracious for anything given...

Still, it was great to be there...out at the old ball yard...
