Play It Again, Sam

Did he or didn't he?...it's the burning Q of this Friday, December 4 of 2020...well, it is now...you flick junkies think you know all about Casablanca...as Rick (eh, Bogie) is talking to his piano dude, Sam (Dooley Wilson)...WAIT!...it's really Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) who was doing the conversation with Sam...asking him to "play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By'"...but never, and I repeat, NEVER in the film does anyone say...PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM...and YOU thought you knew everything...

30 years laters, Woody Allen did a movie with that nomenclature 'Play It Again, Sam'...supposedly, Woody was a Casablanca freak...lurved it...this one, had as it's had actors...Woody, of course, and Dianne Keaton...actually got 4.6 stars...but, per usual, I never rated his flicks as highly as the 'experts'...

Yes, I have no idea why I led with this today...it just came to me...must have seen a commercial for it...or something...

The song itself 'As Time Goes By' was written in 1931...prior to to Casablanca...by Herman Hupfeld...for a Broadway musical, 'Everybody's Welcome'...Frances Williams sang it then...however, it was recorded by Rudy Vallee...but was not a real hit until Sam (Dooley Wilson) covered it...in fact, it is highly regarded as the 2nd best ever of that era...falling only to 'Over The Rainbow' by Judy Garland...and NOW you know...

I guess I was trying to divert myself and you...from reality...as the numbers of Covid are staggering...our Guv from Cali, is trying to limit exposure...all needed, but frustrating at the same time...this, I read what Dr Sanjay Gupta said are the 5 major spots where one could catch the virus...1. restaurants. 2. bars 3. coffee houses 4. hotels 5. houses of worship...there you go, stay home...

Mask up, stay social distanced away from others, and wash your hands...

I am LIVID about this...trump has made no mention to the horrific virus we have at our hands...he only is worrying about his pardons...his lawsuits...himself...how can any person that supposedly is leading our country be so brazenly self centered as he?...how can he possibly think that people really want him as the president?...his lack thereof, is totally shameful...as this thought rings out loud and clear 'sir, do you have no shame?'...

And in the form of 180*...Prez-elect Joe Biden and VP-elect Kamala Harris, have moved on and are moving...FAST!...selecting quality people to fill the spots that will help run this broken down country...I see that they did ask Dr Fauci to continue on...and he accepted...God speed...

How long will AG Billy Barr last in office?...trump is irate with him, as he is with all the people he hires and fires...the only safe ones, are Jared and Ivanka...yet, I still don't know their titles...do you?...guess they are hired hands...that do whatever they do, without the Senate approval...if you have no official job, then you don't have to go in front of the Senate...to be confirmed...ha ha...

Jared is back from the Middle East...how'd that go?...right, who knows...

OK, a lot less angry...we couldn't get into 'The Crown'...too boring and slow...and, not well written...was it the characters?...the actors?...I dunno, but it was a no go...you?...

The Horse baked his own version of Ziti last eve...and yes, I must say, it was scrumptious...of course, made too much...so, we are sending a couple of servings up to them Mackles....be looking out for it, kids...BTW, I must tell you what they did...out of the kindness of their hearts...they had Thanksgiving meals prepared for and they picked them up and delivered them (from KC BarBQ) to the workers here at the Pinnacle...these are special people, and I am including the Mackles...
