THE HR Race

Nowadays, when one hears 'HR', it usually brings up the branch of office that does the investigating of some misdoings...Human Resources...'HR is looking into it'...that sort of thang...'you have to pass thru HR before you are hired'...and on and on....and I don't even want to go into the 'race' issue...been there done that in this blog...but, I am going to take you back to 1998...yup, kids, the past...in MLB...beisbol...when a good portion of the country was embroiled in a unique kind of battle...3 guys who were hitting HR's (HOME RUNS) like never before...then, it was just two, as the 3rd fell off...

Two cities, and really, the Nation, got caught up in it...yup, this was before the sports world, found out about PED's...performance enhancing drugs...that these two, for sure, were using...but, at the time...nobody knew...hmmm, does MLB even have a HR branch?...I digress...Chicago Cubs and the St Louis Cardinals...the two cities that are forever rivals in baseball...and then, they had these 2 guys trying to be the champ of the long ball....

Mark McGwire (St Louis) and Sammy Sosa (Chicago) were the combatants...the 3rd, Ken Griffey Jr (Seattle), was the guy that was in it for awhile...they were approaching the Babe Ruth record of 60 dingers (HR's) in a 154 game schedule...then, Roger Maris surpassed that number, 61, in a 162 gamer...McGwire and Sosa passed them both by....flying...

The games were nationally broadcasted...as they approached the magic numbers...seemingly, most of the world were part of the viewing...the interest was more than just here in the USA...as Sosa was Latin American...it was, at times, thrilling...draining on the two...but still...

McGwire won out...belting 70!...Sosa ended with 66...it was so fun to watch...then...BOOM!...the PEDS came out...and most of what was 'earned'...was not recognized...as they were 'cheating'...thing is, the game was inundated with the PEDS...like, who wasn't using?...the pitchers, were, too...

AND, this was just baseball...think that other sports weren't affected in that era?...I can recall some PGA blokes that were mighty different then...imagine the football guys, powered up...

ESPN is running a special on this...you will see, again, the HR race as it was...the producers did a great job of retelling the story...

Other...

The Colonial ended with a 2 man playoff...Daniel Berger (the eventual winner) and Conor Morikawa...who missed a 3 footer to lose it...disappointing, really...golf is a hard game...ah, speaking of jacked up...have you seen the body mass of Bryson DeChambeau?...gained like 30 lbs, and hits it a lot further than before he gained his ....call me skeptical...see above...

Scammed...so frustrating...we ordered some hanging plant stands...that were featured in one of them internet sites, Facebook or Twitter...it was a fraud...took our money and said that 'it has been delivered'...which they hadn't...then, read the recent reviews...and others have said the same...

Huge Orange has Tweeted that 'over a million people have requested tickets for his revival in Tulsa this next weekend'...have you heard of the Juneteenth, dude?...

Snooki's song of the day...'Back Stabbers' by the O'Jays...referencing to what, my good man?...said he liked the intro...I dedicate it to all the blokes who stand behind Donny, when Orange is trying to speak...

The Bachelor is running past shows of series they had...like a whole season in one night...hmmm, how many times can one hear, 'I am falling in love with you'....and not really mean it?...should be, 'I love you, ah, tonight'...I digress...

The Futures show that this will be another very BAD day for the stock market...especially the cruise ship stocks...

This I caught as really really funny...the Repubs have let out that they figure the next election will be a landslide...they think positively....do they know that Huge Orange is their candidate?...

I must say this...being Prez is the most difficult job on earth...well, in the USA...and it does take a toll...there, is that an excuse for Donny?...

Just in....by SCOTUS...that workers cannot be fired for for being gay or transgender....tell me why the vote would be 6-3?....well now, HR can't fire you for being gay...
