The Road to the Concert

A mere Uber ride to the Pechanga Arena...what was once called the Sports Arena...yup, down here in south SoCal, er, San Diego...a concert to be viewed...Blake Shelton...so, you have the premise...now, here are the actual facts, ma'am....an uncensored take on the happenings of the eve....

The ride...our guy got in a jam...like around the arena...we had to double back and then dropped off...fortunately in the right place...total luck job...we pranced right up to a 'smallish' line to get into the festive hall...security at these events are not only time consuming but, detailed to the max...I got thru, then Marsh was held up?...say what?...her mini purse, was 1 inch too big...what?...we had to exit and get rid of the bag...WTH?...

Many ladies were in the same predicament...the bags were tiny, as is...people were ticked, of course, as were we...we did not have a car to go back to, and drop her bag into...one gal, in the same pickle, hid hers in the foliage surrounding the arena....geez...after searching and asking others, we found a trailer that one can 'rent' a locker for $15!...at the entry of one of the gates...you have GOT to be kidding me...no other option, so that's what we did...

Guess what?...now back into the bloody entrance lines...which, for some reason, had swelled...my guess due to the lady bag caper...that slowed the entry process immensely...we noticed the gals ahead of us, had purses that were as big if not bigger than Marsh's...we warned them...but now, the line we were in, the security bloke let them crush the bags smaller...and let them in!....

Finally, in...and to find our seats...turns out we are on the floor...I don't know what I was thinking to get 'floor seats'...floor seat people STAND the whole concert!...2 hours of standing?...WTH?...Lauren Alaina was already on the stage...as we were a late entry due to the above lady bag fiasco...must have been a bad sound system, as she seemed like she was warbling...ha ha...the lights were off...damn if we couldn't see where we were to go...

And the hired help....just pointed to where we might go...there were times thus far, that I thought we might just get an Uber and depart back home...but, the cost of the tix, made me stay...er, us...found the seats...and get this...everyone around us were soused, or just about getting there...we were drinking agua...water, kids...due to the last nite carousing...$5 a bottle precious spring water...or so it said...the bloke in front of us, let me be clear...he was not a smallish lad...had 8 pints of beer while we were there...everyone had loads of suds, wine, or margaritas....not us, we had spring water...and...they were ALL STANDING UP!....

Blake was great...but, one thing was weird...he was sweating a whole lot...was it hotter on stage?...or, what was going on?...he has so many hits, that the songs just kept on a coming...and his duet with Alaina, was simply terrific...but appeared, to take a lot out of him...whatever...

We were pooped, and figured an hour and half of him was enough...and decided to git out...geez, and an hour and half of standing, was basta for us two amigos...now...we had to find that bloody trailer with the lady bags in 'em...eureka!...found and in our possession...now get the Uber and head back home....

There were a gaggle of cabs ready...thus, I went over and asked what was the cost to get to downtown...not sure if any of the boys, were English speakers...but, I heard $20 dollahs...agreed to it...and when we pulled up to our condo, I restated '$20?'...he nodded, I gave him a 20...and he asked for a tip...I wanted to tell him that he should get outta the biz, but that wasn't the tip he was asking for...another $5 left me wallet...

This may be an overstatement , but for the evening we could have flown to and from Maui...stayed for a week...and paid about the same amount of cash...I digress...

R...R...R...Redneck...one of his more illustrious songs, that all us Injuns were singing along to...
