The Horse Returns

Greetings all, as we are back from our trip to the Grand Canyon...via Cosmo...with some aide from the good friends from Indio, them Morrisses...as we sandwiched our excursion into Arizona with a stop at their fine pad in the desert...so many
thanks to them...

There is so much to talk to you about...first of all, the trip, er the road, is a snap, albeit monotonous at times...and the very real difference of gas prices in our overly taxed petrol in Cali, as compared to the much more affordable rates in Arizona...a HUGE DIFF...they ask around $2.79 for regular...we got nailed for the larger once, as we had no idea the distance from Parker, AZ to the border...live and learn...

Our first stop was in Lake Havasu...listen kids, this is a real hidden gem...still in the desert mode of heat...but, the RV site we stayed at was right on the Lake...a man made venture by a dude named McCulloch...yup, that one...that made them chain saws...like in the 60's...where he bought a LOT of land...sold them off as mini-sites...brought people in from all over the world...wined and dined them...sold the land...and created a city...developed a canal...where he brought in the old London Bridge...ah, from England...boulder by boulder...numbered, too...really...this guy had dough...

And NOW...it is the power boat, pontoons, RV capital of the World...well, not really...but, purnt near...it is THE go to place for spring break in the west...the stories the peops have about this time of year is frightening...you KNOW how college kids get, when it is party time...right?...well, the rest of the year, is for the elder types like you and me...we did go on a pontoon trip around the Lake and down the river...all the way out to Colorado Canyons...there is a name for that, but I can't recall...ah, the city gets it's water from the Colorado River...

We stayed their 3 days, 2 going and one returning...if you have never gone, it is a MUST do...we will go back...I'm sure next year...anyhoo, off we went to our destination spot for the venture...the Grand Canyon...

Our goal was to break the drive up into sections...4 hours a trek...and that was about the timing to get to the GC...now, I must say, the one thing that got us...the elevation...over 7,000 feet!...which does weird things to your body...Marsh had shortness of breath...amongst other maladies...I just got exceptionally tired...which made things a tad bit uncomfortable...

It did cost $35 to get into the area...which is good for a week...ah, who would stay there a full week?...whatever...the campsite was just OK...we had the only one that had electricity, water, and cable TV...but the bath rooms were a disgrace...and the showers were a considerable jaunt away...and you had to have tokens to get in...OK, that's the negative...the positive?...the Grand Canyon!...and one more to add...the area reminded me so much of central Oregon...

You have no idea...it is magically massive...the views were incomprehensible!...I took some great pix,
which I will enlarge and put in our front room...and this...you are right at the ledge of the bloody canyon!...if one is really daring, you can go out to some ledges...not for moi...OK...now couple that with walking slowly...well, it is all you can do...but, in the end WORTH IT!....

We had planned for a 2 dayer there, but opted to go to Flagstaff for the 2nd day...a place that we had never been...well, neither the other two spots...and it was even higher up...a duh...it is a college town...Northern Arizona...we, by mistake, drove right thru the campus...beautiful...had a great meal in their historic downtown...a fun diversion...

Took us a couple of days to get back...as we break for a day...then head, via the Amtrak, to see the kids and their kid...I will write tomorrow...so, I hope this gives ya'll a glimpse at what's what...

One thing that we can only get partial news on...is what is going on with the Impeachment...so, I have been reading and listening to the topic today...and the bloke brings the troops out of Syria, and just a day or two after...Turkey attacks the area and OUR allies in the region?...I don't get it, unless the Apprentice had some agreement with Turkey...good gawd, does this guy have a clue?....we will talk in the morning...

I have included some of my pix...hope you enjoy...
