'Turn Out The Lights'

'Turn out the lights, the party is over...'...as it was sung by the legendary Dandy Don Meredith...one of the trio on Monday Nite Football...the 'must see' NFL game of the week...he was with Frank Gifford and the contentious Howard Cosell...as the game was out of hand...one team whupping the other, and Don would sing his tune...recall that kids?...we had a group that would meet up at Shakeys Pizza, to watch the game...fun times...but, I digress...

As I have told you, probably way too much...I enjoy viewing the WSU Cougs play football...their coach, Mike Leach, is as innovative as they come...well now, last nite seemed no different...as they were hosting Chip Kelly's winless UCLA Bruins...I could say 'hapless' , which might be a better descriptive word...the Cougs were dancing thru the game...up a bundle, like 30+...and the Horse starting singing 'Turn out the lights...'...which I did...and went nite nite...

I am up this fine Sunday, rambling thru my 23 sources of info...come across a column that has 'trending' on it...and notice, the name Chip Kelly...of course, my mind thinks...SNAP ( hate that term), he got fired after the game...too much embarrassment for the alumni...dig a bit deeper...and WHAT?...UCLA came back, and WON the bloody game...67-63!...they scored a bundle in like 19 minutes...what collapse?...

The Ducks of Oregon, methodically beat the Stanford Cardinal...did you know, they used to be the Indians?...of course, you did...it was not pretty...it's hard to go into Palo Alto and win...the O did enough...the D was splendid...which amounts to 3 straight games that UO has NOT allowed a TD...I will say that the offensive coordinator for the Ducks was way too predictable in his play calling...was it respect for the Stanford D?...or just BAD calls...I dunno...

In a game of musts...win...Georgia and Notre Dame...the Bulldogs prevailed...their crowd is nuts...listen to me carefully, this team could WIN it all...they have a dandy QB, sensational RB, and their D hits...another of these things that I have mentioned in the past...I am not a fan of the HC of the Fighting Irish...Brian Kelly...he has had a history of berating his QB, on natty TV much too often...and I don't think there is a bloke on the screen that uses the F word more than him...be proud, ND, be proud...

SDSU's win streak came to an end...losing to Utah St...did not watch it...so will not comment any further...

Beisbol...well, the mighty Padre version...as SD trotted out the same dudes to take on the DBacks...but, with a different manager aboard...'interim'...hey, I get that they felt like a change is needed....however, c'mon...7 games to go in the season?...let the bloke finish it off...oh yea, the rumor mill had the GM AJ getting the axe, too...which is my wish...so far, nada...and, the Pads lost again...and again...and again...

Gaining strength in the Demos...Eliz Warren...as she and Joe Biden are neck and neck...way early, tho, kids...however, she does seem to hit the right buttons...can she handle the onslaught of the Apprentice?...is Pocahontas all he has?...I doubt it...

My review of Downton Abbey...if you had no idea what the series was about, then, this flick would have no meaning for you...but, if you are a follower, you will be mesmerized by it on the big screen...and find it just perfect for the next chapter...

Oh my...US medics can 'smell' more bodies than they can find...in the Bahamas...the aftermath of the last storm...tragic...

In an apparent need of cash, the Apprentice has sold more than 1 million 'MAGA' hats...he has introduced some 'Trump' straws to purchase, too...are they plastic?...if so, he has some 'splaining' to do...

Please please please...no more candid interviews...no more pix...no more info...on Miley Cyrus's love life...stop!...who cares?...

If you want a taste of how college football really is...turn in to the saga going on in Michigan...as their HC is getting crucified...wanna be a head coach?...you better win...

Surprise...ha ha...the new stadium in LaLa...where the Rams and the Chargers will commingle...seems that one of the franchises is not carrying their weight on the partnership...duh, guess which one?...the answer?...the Spanos group, of course...somebody buy the bloke out, and move them back to God's country...

Say what?...the NBA board of something...that alters rules...has made some alteration to the 'traveling' call...after a 'gather'...yea, right...how many steps are allowed?...ah...does that mean the 'Euro step' is a violation?...that takes half of the Beard's points away...

To finish off the anniversary weekend, we venture over to the Civic Theater...for a night with Johnny Mathis...4th row, I might add...of course, my gift for the little lady, has NOT arrived yet...and I paid xtra for the shipping...yes, me lady, it is in the mail...

 And did YOU know, the butler Carson's front name?...Charles...

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
