It's alive and well...30 teams that represent most of the country, albeit, the PNW has had it's franchises and then lost all but Portland's...and there is still one in Canada...rumors are out there, that the league may open some up in Europe, and also, gulp, Mexico City...but, these are just that...
And they make MONEY...all of them...of course, they play an exorbitant amount of games...the players and coaches make a great salary...some say, too much...as the cost of the tix for the events are strikingly high...but guess what, if you can get the prices for 'em, they will charge that amount...
There are enough 'stars' to go around...every city's franchise has theirs...some have more than a few...thus, the better teams are the ones with more than the others...simple math...I buy the NBA TV Package, and watch games from everywhere...the telecasts are eerily similar...ie, the announcing, the set up, the pace of the commercials, the analysts, and I could go on and on....all the same...
The wagering...ah ha, it is a big business where one can do that...even where you can't, well, unless you use a bookie...and over the years, there have been blokes who succumb to those who want to alter the results...take bribes...and it's not just the players...the referees, too...I always take heed to the point spreads...that's where the $ is...
The refs...terrific job if you can weasel your way into it...if you are a whistle toter, and have dreams of making it to the bigs...well now, if one can judge by the preseason games...they are looking for moving screens more than ever...some are downright phantom calls...and man, does this slow up the game...and...it angers the players (and coaches) enough to say things to the refs...thus, more technical fouls...booooo....
The elite...where the best players are...one must start in Oakland...the Warriors are the ones to beat...but, I must say that when LeBron James jumps ship and relocates his family to the west coast, too...you have to take a hard look at the Lake Show...yes, he is THAT good...witness, the preseason game with LaLa and GS in Vegas last eve...they are closer than I thought that they would be...in the
East...it's Boston and then...everyone else...think they weren't happy to see James leave that side of the league?...a shoo in...
For you doubters...that say YOUR team is as good as the better ones...that's a nice thang...support the local one...and dream...listen, we did it for years in Oregon...had some real close calls, when Rick Adelman was coaching...alas, they fired his arse...and have wallowed in mediocrity ever since...is that the way YOUR home town team is, too?...close, but no cigar?...
Yes, I watch the games...my favs are the Warriors, Blazers, and the ____, well, that is to be determined this season....who will step up and play...like champions?...I kind of think it just may be the dreaded Lake Show...egads, I said it...
