The End of an Era

Hey, kids...another week is at the end...and it is FRIDAY!...my memory of a former Teach friend, the late Jeannine Gann...for brightening up the day...with her singing of FRIDAY!...I'll never forget it and her...geez, that's kind of sad and happy at the same time, huh...for you former, North High Vikings, you'll know what I am talking about...

My blog title has to do with what Volkswagen has announced...that they are through with their production of the BEETLE!...the Bug...really?...in my time...I owned 2...and a camper van, to boot...but, the Beetle, was a thang...then, it became a throwback...the first one, was an economical tool of a car...no AC...the engine in the rear...small radio, shoot, small everything...I swear you could hear the rubber bands make the car go...then...they stopped making that style...at least to us...somehow, Mexico had and still have that version as Taxis...

The re-entry of the car, the Bug, was done by VW in 2002...they called it the 'New Beetle'...the design  was similar to the original...but this time they did it right...all the bells and whistles were in it, to rival any of the that era car...I got myself a black one...and I lurved it...at the time, there was another 'old time' roadster type car made by Plymouth/Dodge/Chrysler, called the PT Cruiser...kind of a cheaply made version of what it should have been...in fact, the Beetle was actually bigger than that...weird, but true...

Yup, me first Bug was baby blue...then, VDoub named it the 'Super Beetle' ...for all the hullabaloo, it got crappy mileage...like 13 mpg...really...but, I bought it used...and when I sold it, a couple of years (maybe 3?), I got what I originally PAID for it!...think that could ever happen now?...another memory shot here, is that I recall my good buddy, and coaching co-hort, John Bartlett...and HIS Bug...like a real oldie (the car and him)...he had a coat hanger that he used to keep the door closed...quite often it would open when taking a turn...life back then...

Let's go...

The storm was real on the east coast...the water, and er, the ocean surge is devastating...water levels have risen immensely, primarily on the coast of North Carolina...and inland from there...not really sure what 'mandatory evacuation'...means...but, there were a lot of people who decided to 'hunker down' and ride it out...and you got it...there are rescues going on of people as I write this...some on roof tops...stranded...as the flood waters have engulfed the area...no power, no nuttin'...

Why would a guy, go out of his way, to tell a lie, that no one will agree with?...no one...not even his same party affiliates?...Trump...and the death toll in the storm that hit Puerto Rico...does he think that he can say anything, and get away with it?...right, he does...such a sad sad sad bloke...

Paul Manafort...yup, him...about to go thru another trial...has rumored to cop a deal with the special Prosecutor...that may mean, more dirt on guess who?...the walls keep closing in, Donny...I can hear it now, 'Manafort is a rat'...or the like...

Somehow, we stayed up to watch the Tonight Show...Jimmy Fallon had 2 gals on as his guests...Blake Lively...who not only is like 6 foot tall, but a real charming character...and Carrie Underwood...yes, who is preggers...and we fell asleep before she sang...dang...oh yea, I forgot this...his show was done at Central Park, and not in studio...

The Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings just turned weird...for the Supreme Court...

Well now, a new book is in the works...this one by Stormy Daniels...oh my, Donny, what say you?...I bet he tries to block it...executive privilege?...can he do that?...

FOX's guy, Tucker Carlson...his interview, er, lambasting of Stormy's lawyer...'creepy porn lawyer'...was Carlson's name for him...on air, mind you...do not complain about CNN, you Repubs...after this 'interview'...oh my...

Let's switch to me Fantasy...er, Football, that is...sorry, Tucker, a play on words...the Horse picked up the QB from the Bengals...Andy Dalton...and did NOT play him last night...alas, he scored 29.25 points!...you KNOW that my QB, Aaron Rodgers, will probably not play Sunday...and I made yet another boo boo...fire the coach!!!

You know, I don't like politicians much...but, that's all we got, kids...they are in the system...that's their lot in life...that's what they do...and it's up to us, to filter through and find the best ones available, right?...

Vacay time...some may say that I am ALWAYS on vacay...ha ha ha...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

The Ignominy

So much for diplomacy ... the absolute embarrassment by the current President of the US...his actions in 'hosting' the Ukranian President Zelensky ... as it turned out, a highly visual representation of bullying by trump...the manners and methodology that he uses on people...aligned with his arse kissers, waiting their turn to take potshots at Zelenksy...all well orchestrated ...it was the ULTIMATE IGNOMINY of our country's 'leader'...unfortunately, for us, too...as somehow we are connected to that ogre...in reality, we are not... hoping the rest of the World can see that...here are samples of the headlines throughout that depict the sentiment of the slaughter... We are NOT aligned with Putin...WE ARE NOT!...trump is ...which begs a different query...how much longer can this idiocy go on?... I keep asking this...what does Putin have on trump, anyway...it must be a formidable foible... Talk to me, kids... This ploy of the orange...to actually simulate a firing squa...

A Trial, Indeed

The revenge tour is ramping up ...as we gawk at the unchecked moves by trump ...even SCOTUS , the last leg of justice, is wobbling beneath his demands... this country is in disarray ...I wish I could give you better news... The unsightly attack of one of his Icetapo behemoths, on a lady in New York...taking her to the ground...an example of the uncontrolled behavior of that organization...guess that is what you call the group... simply, out of control, with NO LIMITS of force ...sad...and disgusting... The indictment of his former FBI head, James Comey ...for lying (imagine that from a legendary liar, trump) to Congress...this court case is needed for the country...to show the fallacy of the regime that is running rampant all over the land...it needs to be a BIG STAGE! ... A trial, indeed... In data released by trump's own government...the largest groups of detainees...the Icetapo's achievement of rounding up people...are not the ones with ANY CRIMINAL RECORD , but, 'illeg...
