Shots Fired

Such was the exclamation of TVG's Todd Schrupp, as the final race out at Del Mar was finishing...'SHOTS FIRED! SHOTS FIRED!'...it appeared that one of the horses bolted, like 30 yards from the finishing line...threw the jockey...(horse and jockey are doing fine)...chaos ensued...you could hear the tat tat tat tat, on air...

Everyone was running, somewhere to hide...sound familiar?...how many times have we talked about this sort of thing in the past, well, decade?...at schools, malls, theaters, concerts, churches, the list goes on...SHOOTINGS!...now, at a race track...where there is no metal checking system in place...I'm sure, there will be now...

The setting was a bit odd for a day at the races...as one of the 'promotions' to get more people out to the track, is to offer concerts...at the end of the day...this one was for 'Ice Cube'...a rapper...a popular choice who like that type of music...thus, the limit of tickets had been achieved...sold out...

Which led to the problem...I suppose...the shooter was denied entry and went ballistic...started firing his hand gun...

This happened at one of the two entry points to get in and out of the racing site...imagine the numbers who were leaving and milling about...as the shots rang out...terrified people scrambling everywhere...to hide...get away...just like in any of the mass shootings of the above...

Fortunately, the police and sheriff's staff were there...tased the shooter, before mass carnage happened...and averted another of the senseless tragedies...

Let's go elsewhere...

Labor Day...the last holiday I can recall that I cherished as a teach...thinking back, this was the day that I went out to the Oregon State Fair, and bet on them ponies for my last day of leisure...gone are those days...as they phased out the horse races...of course, I retired, and we moved...but, the memories, are fond in me mind...

One of the many things that transpire after week 1 in college football...is commentary...just like I gave yesterday...except, pundits can be brutal...calling for ousters of coaches...like already?...c'mon...the only dude I'd censure is the foo from ND...somebody has to get to him...embarrassing...I digress...but, one item I saw a lot...is that the Pac 12 is very, very weak...geez, kids, outside of 'Bama and Ohio St, EVERYONE is...

Here at the home...my spousal arrangement...decided to simplify our condo...in her eyes, a bit too cluttered...down came pictures...'adorn the rooms with brightness, in lieu of dark'...fresh, is the term we are bantering about...I fear new paint is on the horizon...may purple be gone from the living area?...and yes, you who have been here, me ladies in the guest bath, could be a thing of the past...I blame ALL of this on our neighbor of the upper side, Monica...

The Fed Ex Cup on the PGA Tour...never ending string of T's...listen, if the dude who played with Tiger yesterday, Bryson DeChambeau, can do that...shoot 8 under?...he should be a lock for the Ryder Team...right coach Furyk?...along with Tiger, too...I'm not sure about Lefty...er, Righty...anyway, back to the Fed Ex...how many more do they have after this one?...well, the finals for phase Two is today...

I have never ever heard of cap beetles prior to yesterday...and yet another first for the mighty Padres of San Diego...who says we are always last?...

Imagine if YOU were one of them Federal Workers, that Trump denied the 2% raise for next year...on Labor day...you gonna vote for him next time?...sure you are...

Egads, a breaking news...another shooting in San Bernardino...at an apartment complex...

Start with shots fired and ended with 'shots fired'...

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
