The Real Maverick

The news of the passing of Arizona's Senator, John McCain, was a tragic blow to our society...a SIX term Senator...who had seen it all...as his time was winding down, remarked that 'he had a good life'...a victim of brain cancer, just like what one of our good friends from Oregon, succumbed to...so sad...his life was full of self proclaimed 'rocking the boat'....was a pilot in the Vietnam War...shot down on his 23rd mission...and was harbored in the 'Hanoi Hilton' until the end of the conflict...later became a member of the Senate...was the Republican Nominee for President, battling with Barak Obama...failed bid, but returned to the Senate as a strong rep for the people of Arizona, and the USA...simply, a terrific man...I will never forget, in the heat of the Presidential campaign, McCain taking the microphone away from a questioner, as she was implying that Obama was not a US Citizen, 'no ma'am, you are wrong, he is a fine American'...he was 81 years of age...

Not to be overlooked, was the awful remarks that he had to endure in the past 3 years by Trump...calling him a number of names...all derogatory...implying that he wasn't a 'War Hero', as he was captured...good lawd...called McCain a 'loser'...have I told you how much I despise the words that come out of Trump's mouth?...

Let's move on...

Lady A and Darius Rucker, alias Hootie...the group is a polished trio...with hit after hit...Darius is fine, but I don't know most all of his songs...so it's hard to get into...the problem is with the venue...so hard to get to...it's way out in Chula Vista...and was said to have 20,000 there last night...getting home was a bit of an issue...the Uber dudes were asking $100!...geesh, settled on a cabbie for $50...still....but, the weather was unbelievable and the seats were grand...

The power went out in Chavez Ravine...ah, the home of the LaLa Bums...figured they were referring to the visitors, the weak hitting Padres...of course, that POWER has been out for the entire season...thank YOU, AJ....yes, we lost...in OT...now have the worst record in the NL...

I mentioned the concerts in Nashville this weekend...two of them, that have been done...sounded like unbelievable must sees....Taylor Swift played in front of 50,000 screaming you knows...and had surprise singers, in Tim McGraw and Faith Hill...Keith Urban did his thang, with walk ons, Reese Witherspoon, Kelsea Ballerini, and the newly impregnated Carrie Underwood....and even the Tennessee Marching Band...listen, that whole area is very tiny...imagine...a great place to visit, kids...and...not really sure where Beyonce is...as they (Jay Z, too) were performing in Atlanta last eve...and the story said that they were returning for another nite, at the same site...

And that golf T in Jersey...the leader is the bloke who confesses to do everything computerized...is this the NEW?...Bryson DeChambeau...up by 4 as the final day begins...

For clarity, there was a show in my era...'Maverick'...a rootin' tootin' cowboy thang...gamblers...Bret and Bart...starring James Garner, you know the dude in 'The Notebook'...there you go...

Finally, we have spent hours and hours on 'inspecting' the Class B RV...the who, what, and wheres...talking to people who have 'em...where they store 'em...up and down the west coast, too...let this be a message to all of you who care...we are doing our due diligence, and will NOT jump into the water, without gauging the depth...

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
