Fire Season

There is a SEASON for this?...around Cali there is...and so, up and down the entire West Coast...the deadly FIRE SEASON!...sadly, often the fires are set by people...yup, intentionally lit...take a look at the fire maps...and you can see where there are these burning right now...

Is this a phenomena that is a direct result of Global Warming?...I can think back to days in Oregon, where the farmers routinely set their OWN fields on fire...'controlled blazes'...in August...then, reseeded their land...and repeated the action the next year...does that still go on?...

And...lighting the fires is NOT the Global Warming, duh...but the very brittle conditions...are...

Seemingly unaffected is the product capitol of the US...fruits and vegetables...central Cali...on the OTHER side of the mountain range...but on this side...is where we are vulnerable...lack of rain, of course...

Up in NoCal there is a blaze in the Redding area that is absolutely, MASSIVE...deadly...uncontrolled...do I have enough adjectives?...terrifying...and now they are talking about tornadoes, termed FIRENADOES over the land...

When the politicians, rebuke the scientists, saying that there is no such thing as Global Warming...I gaze in bewilderment...

And on and on....

I guess we are in yet another throw away season in San Diego beisbol...got lit up early by the DBacks...in SD...3rd inning...the game was over...listen, you can find many other things to watch or read...than the 3 or so hours of frustration that the Padres unleash on the locals...let's just hope, that they find life in that organization....SOON!...enough of the 'prospects'...get 'em up here and let them play...it can't be worse...nope...'baptism by fire'...what an awful saying, right?...who came up with that?...

Well now...where did the phrase come from?...'Baptism of Fire'...probably traces back to the 1822 time...really...Napoleon...in a rant about his military...as the young soldiers going into real battle...not a game, like today...later on, it is said to be written by some English Bloke...I dunno...I suppose you could say it about most every Trump cabinet member...first timers going into battle...facing the Fake News reporters...

The Pick 5...ah ha...as you are probably amazed at the feat...yes...but, it is all timing, kids...there are opportune times for hitting it...for the single bettors like moi...when the number of horses in the races are limited...like on Wednesday or Thursday meets...the weekend entries are too big...unless you wager big time bucks...most are conglomerates that hit those...thus the payoffs are huge...

The NFL guys are back at it...the dreaded 2 or 3 a days...learning the new system...if there has been a change in coaching staff...some of these guys go thru that every year, seemingly...the organizations that continually lose...and, sure, change the coach...the new QB for the usually awful Jets...did NOT engage in their initial practice sessions...contract problems...man, I'd be ticked if he wasn't there...and I was strutting and straining during the practice sessions...

And there is a new guy on the scene...OK, this is a stretch...but back in the 50's...I know, why Horse?...why?...when the auto makers extraordinaire were Ford and Chevrolet....on came this third guy, Dodge, to enter the market...saw the real possibility of making moolah...don't we all?...let's kick that into overdrive and do the same for the present day mobile phone market...Apple and Samsung have been dominating...now along comes...wait for it...Amazon!...well, it is in the rumor mill thus far...but, is there a more successful biz than Amazon right now?...

Makes sense...you could order the phone over the webnet...have it in your hands in a day or two...and if...it is a quality product...just make the other two dominates, rethink their product...interesting...
