Statues

Immortalized...somewhere in time, the powers to be, figured out the way to remember someone...or someones...forever...is to make a STATUE of them...plop it on public property, probably in a city park...or so...maybe at a college or university...for many, the gravesite marker may suffice...but the deciders, need more of a recognition site...fuggit about the cost, the idealism is the key factor...

This procedure, what else would one call it?...has been shelved for some time...well, there are some that are erected in sports still...I think of the Tony Gwynn over at Petco Park, but the mass of 'em were way back when...some political blokes, have their own busts made and displayed all over their countries...how'd that work out for Sadam?...

What was deemed important for some areas, like in the South of our country...the Civil War leaders...have had their statues removed...as time has moved on, and the meaning of the 'immortalized' people, has been resurrected...they are no longer worthy...I guess...

You roam your own area, and notice them?...I see them over at the Balboa Park...here in SD...saw lots of them in Nashville...do you take the time, to see who and why they are there?...I think that there has to be controversy for some, regardless of who is bronzed...

So we have a brand NEW high rise built here in the Marina District...and in front of it, is a bizarre STATUE on their grounds...some might call it that, or some may call it obtrusive...what say you?

Geez, how about chiseling out faces of 'important' people on a mountain?...how do you remove that?...blow it up?...it's history, kids...HISTORY!...a reminder of what had happened...in our past...like it or not...it's the path that was established...I'm the one that says, to leave them be...use them as reminders...where we were...

The lovable Pads won the series in Pitt...get this...this version of the Padres, are sporting a 0-24 loss mark, when behind after the 8th inning...which means we haven't EVER made a come from behind win...this season...make that 1 fer 25 now...scored a bunch in the 9th, using small ball (bunts, and stealing bases) for the UNUSUAL victory...that's 5 out of the last 6, WINS...

What was that Rocket's effort last night in Alameda?...just awful in a 41 point shellacking...Steve Kerr's plan of isolating the Beard on defense was masterful...he flailed at whomever he was 'guarding'...turned out to be a joke...speaking of jokes...the TNT 'analyst', Chas Barkley, continues his rant on the Warriors DGreen...give it up, Charles...

American Idol...the final singing nite was Sunday...the 3 left, did 3 songs...one was the 'single' picked out for 'em...all fuggitable songs...sorry, kids, but true...then they could do, stuff they wanted to do...listen, I never get how the voting goes, other than it sure seems to favor the guys with guitars...to me, the contestant that has the best shot at making it, in a very difficult biz, is Gabby...will she win this?...I have no clue...

I can't believe this...but I can't find anything worth mentioning about POTUS today...
