Hard To Repeat

One of the ringing things in all of pro sports...REPEAT!...or even, 3PEAT...you get the picture...when a team wins the championship...and just as soon as the trophy is raised, the faithful are calling for yet another...this next season...such is the mission of the beloved, apparently Nationwide, Cubbies of Chicago...MLB...beisbol...hey, kids, it is real hard to do...real hard...

And in their case, they have all the tools...youth, power, D, and the most important of all, pitching...so, why aren't they running away with the league this season?...first of all, the game of baseball is very hard to play...hitting a ball is ridiculous...thrown at 90+mph...when 'good' is hitting 30% of the time...that means you are missing 70%...imagine...so, if you are now at 27%, the team starts to suffer...well, the Cubs are not hitting too well right now...

In fact, they just got shut out twice in LaLa Land, by the Bums...egads...now, for us Padre faithful, that's a ho hum...for Chi-town peops, it's a cause for alarm...or is it?...it's such a long season...and they are but a game or so back in their division...and, like I said prior, they have all the tools...finish strong, and the playoffs linger...

Another reason...perks of winning a champ...they get commercials...big bucks...more notoriety...how many times have you seen these blokes on the pixels?...yup, you tend to relax a bit too much...a natural...hey, no one can blame them for getting more cash for their achievement...

The one thing I have not talked about...the closers...they didn't sign the guy they picked up at the end of last year...the 100+mph chucker, Chapman...you have to have guys who can pitch the final couple or 3 innings...this is a problem for 'em right now...this is the only physical negative that they have...but, with their highly heralded management, expect some form of trade to get what they need, by the end of the season...

Repeat?...maybe...playoffs?...probably...entertainment?...100% guaranteed...

This must be my blog on baseball today...as them Bums just keep retooling...who are these guys?...their farm system is loaded...and when one of their front liners go down, they just pick a guy out of their AAA squad...he comes up...and delivers...

Speaking of getting shut out twice in a row...the Padres in DC...and striking out like olden times...13 in the 1st and 15 yesterday...awful at bats, too...this dude Schimpf...oh my, what is the record for % of K's?...he has to be approaching it...and...for some reason, we bat him...get this...4th!...like clean up...what am I missing...hey dude, if you must play him...bat him 8th!!!!!...

I heard one of the 'experts' say that fans were not going to watch minor league games...what?...in many ways, the game is more appealing...and you are wrong BLOKE!...tell that to the many small towns that support, strongly, their local team...throughout the country...

Roids...human growth pills and shots...are we through with them?...the rage of the 90's...the extreme bulking up of the body...doesn't it still go on in football?...can these dudes really be that big?...I dunno...but, I have me doubts...

Well now...dem Cubbies roll into town this week...for a 3 set...let's get real here...75% (maybe more) of the crowd will be in blue and red...with their caps adorned with that bloody 'C' on it...yes, it is time for some good old fashioned embarrassment by us locals...I am going to one of 'em...gulp, my 1st game this season...accompanied by one of them C guys...oh well, it will be fun...I hope...maybe, I should wear my Duck stuff...
