Against All Odds

You watching these NBA Playoffs?...right, me too...the most stunning of a series is going on in the east...where the number 8 seed has gone into the home court of the number 1 seed and...SWEPT 'EM!...that's a wowee...The Chicago Bulls...went into Boston town and have done the unthinkable...

Their best player and leader...is a guy who has emerged...AGAINST ALL ODDS!...his story and background is alarming at best...where you would think that there must be some fudging on some of it, as it can't be that bad...guess again...

Jimmy Butler...grew up in Texas...the dad abandoned the family early in the process...OK, hear that tale way too often...hang on, it gets bizarre...the mom kicked Jimmy out of the house at age 12...what?...the report has it, "she didn't like the way he looked"...true and yet, sad stuff...he was on his own...imagine...

He bounced around the neighborhood...finally settled in on some friends, who's parents would help him out...like give him a place to stay...unbelievable...think about it...he could have turned to crime, drugs, you name it...but he kept playing sports...and basketball was his salvation...as it turned out, he didn't draw enough looks to get a scholarship...and ended up in a JC...where he did, make that, DID get noticed...

Marquette University did...gave him one...and he flourished!...enough so, that he got drafted into the NBA at the 30th pick by the Bulls...a first rounder...now?...he is the best player on Chicago's team...terrific attitude...like an old school dude...plays defense as hard as anyone in the league...just watch them and him...the total package at 27 years of age...

Amazing!...and get this...he has forgiven his parents and supposedly...talks to them...would you?...

The Pads...got hammered yet again...4 in a row...at home...not sure I want to see the debacle...

Well, off I go to the course...but have to mention what every one of my sources have as their headline...that the guy who just was acquitted of a double homicide...former New England star tight end, Aaron Hernandez...hung himself in jail...dead...

Fittingly, the song for the day is....'Against All Odds' by Phil Collins...
