Cubs Win!

You know, it's just a game...wait for it...or is it?...as the sports eyes were on beisbol last night...that has not been the norm for quite some time...football and basketball have had more success in the public...but...there was intrigue to this one...Game 7 of the World Series...with both combatants needy of a win...been forever for both...and, I'm not so sure that the Chicago Cubs were not the sentimental favorite throughout the US of A...even, to get the updates on the CMA's...just an indicator...

Without a horse in the race, I could look at this final game differently than I normally do, or that you, who has one, does...try to follow the paths of the manager's minds...you see, they coach their teams differently in the final game...all pitchers are available...and, with the final one in the American League (due to the ridiculous rule of the All Star game league winner getting home field advantage) they had the DH, er designated hitter, in lieu of the pitchers batting...

The ebb and flow of the night went to the dahlings of Chi-town...started right off with a bang, a dinger by their first batter...had the feeling that it was gonna be a Cubbie night...and it was, mostly...the Cub guru, Mgr Joe Maddon, pulled the strings in a peculiar fashion...changed pitchers at debatable odd times...and the "Indians" took full advantage...ah yea of Cubbie faith, who would follow him to the end of the rainbow...even got mad at moi for suggesting that maybe, just maybe, he made a few mistakes...it's just a game...

For the casual fan...geez, aren't we all?...er, most of us...we were highly entertained...given an inch, the hitters responded...and lo and behold...the bloody game was tied at the end of nine...what?...6-6...and Mother Nature had the gall to intrude...unleashed the rains from the clouds...and, gasp, the tarps were rolled out to save the field...a pause to catch our breath...some might say this could be fitting...call it a "tie" and both teams could claim their losing streaks were over...

The game went on...the Cubs prevailed in the next stanza...2-1...and with it went the crown...that has eluded them for 108 years...what?...it was cool...the city erupted!...as did all the Cubbie fans throughout this great land...the curse is over...but you know, it's just a game...

The CMA's were on at the same time...luckily for us peops, we could tape it...which we did...Brad and Carrie were their splendid selves...I AM biased on this...she sure can sang...it was a good show...but what the heck, where was the best guy singer, Blake Shelton?...the eye of the beholder, Horse, the eye of the beholder...I always wonder who gets to vote on these award shows...anyway, the plan is to be there next year...the plan...

Tomorrow starts the Breeders Cup...day one...these are the best horses in the world...the WORLD!...amazing animals...and yet, I have not started me handicapping...today, that is on the docket...

Finally, it would not be fitting if I didn't mention the Prez race....there, I did it...

Smile, it is infectious...
