The Member/Guest T was eerily similar to last year's...the final day of competition was kind of tough...maybe even brutal...as we were paired with some real type golfers...3 and a 6 hdcp dudes...who hit it over 320 with no problem...hey, Cris can hang with them...me, the Claven, can not..."nice shot, Mr Shepard"...pity, I suppose...anyway, we gave it a go...lost to them by 5...mostly due to moi's awful chipping...ha ha...oh well...
One of the dudes played on the same high school team as Rickey Fowler and Jamie Lovemark...like real pro golfers...he hit the ball so far, that even if he was wayward, he still had but a wedge to most greens...I'm hitting a 6 iron...ha ha...but...both were great kids...and it was eye-popping to see some guys play the game that way...live...
A point of frustration was more with the money distribution after the best ball round...having tied for 3rd...and we birdied the number one handicap hole, I thought that even if they didn't pay out $ to all who tied, we should be in the money...not so...they used a different way of settling the tie...unbeknownst to all...so, Team Shepard, has nothing more than the accolades of being tied for 3rd...last time we get in this event...
The great part though...is that I got to play 3 rounds of golf with my son...which obviously, is priceless...and we did compete hard...we will do it again, but this time at his course...later in the year...they do it the right way...with individual matches...and all...and...he had to drive back to SB after the T...which is not easy for anyone, regardless of age...right?...
MLB...think there isn't some bad blood between last year's playoff teams, the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays?...boiled over again yesterday...into like a real brawl...not the shoving and grabbing thinger...the historical scene is this...last season, the big hitter for the Jay's, Jose Batista, showed up the Rangers with his infamous bat flip after hitting a home run...that's then and this is now...he gets hit by a pitch...walks to 1st...and...as then to break up a double play at 2nd, he slides hard into the 2nd baseman...who, BTW, avoids the collision...yet throws the ball wildly to 1st...the Texas bloke takes offense to the attempted slide...and cold cocks him...huge shot to the jaw...doesn't stop there...as there is more hitting of batters...let's just say that there will be huge fines and suspensions to come...the slogan out of the Rangers land, is you don't mess with Texas...more so, with the commissioner....Poli-ticks...even I am getting unnerved with the antics of the RNC...listen you foos, you have a candidate...who has millions of followers...get over it...and bring him into your system...so you then have a chance...if you splinter off your side, you have NO WAY OF WINNING!...problem is, in fact, you do have fools running your elite party...and you will find a way to muck it up...which is exactly what you deserve...could be one of the easiest wins for the Demos...ever...if the RNC continues their war on their own guy...
The Players...Jason Day continues his stronghold on, as the best golfer on the planet...wins by 3 or 4 over the field...in Florida...he's got it all...length, accuracy, touch, and no fear...which is so important in that mind part of the game...lord, it is a tuff game...the other so called young stars of the sport?...in the back of the van...Jason is driving it...
Staying in that state...you see where a gal was rushed to a hospital with a shark bite?...still attached?...2 foot shark...egads, stay out of the water...somebody I know, has been saying that forever...
Finally...I don't think I have ever sensed the pride and excitement of my boy...as now...as he has been announcing to all who will listen...his upcoming marriage...it was extremely evident out at the golf course...I'm very happy for the kids...some might say, "it's about time"...not me, the time is right...
