Big Ben
The NFL Playoffs began yesterday...with a bang!...opening kickoff run back for a TD by the Kansas City Chiefs...and set the stage for the rout of the Houston Texans...no doubt, the lesser team of all in these games...I dunno, the Texan fans were a bit harsh...booing the Houston offense...c'mon lads, you made the post season!...
The other fray was the one I was interested in...Pitt at Cincy...bad blood...real bad blood...and it was worse in the action...even to the point where the Steeler Asst Coaches got involved...let's be perfectly honest...this is a brutal game...by many brutal dudes...the Bengals have their share...which led to their demise...and their 7th straight playoff loss under their coach...hmmm...he gets them there...no doubt, will join the ranks of the fired...I also reiterate...the owners in this league are also brutal...
Rising above all the chaos of the game was the Pitt QB, Big Ben...again showing why he is a giant in the game...rallies the Steelers from the loss column...after another shoulder injury...and marches down the field for the game winning FG...to be clear, aided by some ridiculous penalties by the uncoachable defensive blokes of Cincy...and...the refs had their hands full...could have called (should have) many more penalties...here's the deal...if the coach can't control his players, it's too bad that the yellow hankies of the stripes have to...
OK, staying in the NFL...the owners's commissioner, Roger Goodell, is a puppet...to them...this is not going to be good, kids...he represents the money...and is paid well himself...Powerball type...and sheepishly gives his take on things...no worse than the latest scheme of moving a possible 3 teams to LA LA land...calls the departed ( probable) cities offers to stay "inadequate"...the only thing that is inadequate is him...he is such a mouse type, that he will not go to NFL stadiums of some of the teams...the fans hate him...in this league, there is no greater divide of owners and players...stay tuned to the issue of the head trauma "concussions"...
Anyway, I did predict the two winners yesterday...and have both the visitors winning again today...Seattle over Minnesota...and Green Bay over the 'skins....figure I'll miss one of those...not sure which...My case is simple...the Vikings have a turrible signal caller...the Hawks have a great D...the diff...and the 'skins have played in the worst division in the league...and if...the Pack can run a bit...if...they win...obviously, my pick that could be wrong is the latter...
Golf...mine?...not bad yesterday...85...should have been better...got some unlucky breaks...but felt good after...but...I'm really referring to the "Mr. Golf" of this time, Jordan Spieth...who is up by 5 strokes at Kapalua in Maui....no better example than his near hole out for a 2 (albatross) on the finishing hole...just barely missed...ho hum, just an eagle...he has the "it" factor that Tiger used to have....well, still has, I guess...can JS finish it off?...on later in the day...
Golden St took it to the Kings in Sac Town...not easy...as the Kings are a feisty bunch...led by the multi-talented, but personally challenged Boogie Cousins...how'd you like to coach him?...he's a volcano ready to explode...at any time...well...Curry and the guys got it going enough to win...again...almost 40 games into the season, and still...only 2 losses...egads...they are so fun to watch...thanks again to my NFL service...
To my much older sis, Jill...I have this right...tonight is the "Golden Globes"...hmmm, no reference to the K Fam...where the prizes start to point to where the "real winners" are going...the pretty people will be out...we will watch...see what they wear...run out to Target and get fakes...and copy their looks, right?...wrong...hmmm, let's all look for the new star, Rachel, to get her do, or is that due?...finally...
Hoss racing...did you see California Chrome ran again?...out at Santa Anita...and won going away...well, I'm meeting Andy over at Strider's for an afternoon of handicapping...this, kids, is great fun...you should try it...
No one won the Power Ball...will grow to $1.3 billion!...now, I mean, NOW...I'll go get a quick pick $2 buck tix...let's see, I'd spend that on....
The mind wanders...
