Holiday Bowl

Hey now...how you kids doing?...last day of 2015...right here and now...and you need to hear my take on last night's HOLIDAY BOWL...the one that featured the Wisconsin Badgers and the USC Trojans...and this is a totally non-biased observation...from talking, listening, and watching the whole thing unfurl...

The experience...we prefunctioned at our pad...this was good...Radar and his new wife, Sara, joined us...we had already bought tix for the trolley, online on the MTS app...saved a few bucks by doing this...walked over to the pickup spot...no easy feat with M still with a gimpy knee...but, success...

Boarded...and it was already jammed...we were the 3rd stop...and it got worse...30 minute ride to the Q...our destination...every stop, more and more peops got on...packed like sardines in a can, I tell ya...we were fortunate to have seats...most did not...and we were dressed for the cold...inside this trolley, it was heat, heat, heat...but had some great conversations with Wisconsin and USC fans...that part was worth the time allotted...here is my first take...5-1 Badger fans aboard...

Arrived, and not too soon...a line awaited us...to get by the cops and the trolley ticket check in...our first such a thing...took a bit...but we just flashed our tix from our iPhone app...must say it was way cool...will do that again...buy an all day pass...for whatever...kept shuffling over to yet another line...to get in...this slowed down...as they were doing the pat down of all, to get in...luckily we got to bypass the enormous will call line...

Once in...it was totally different...so much easier to move about...and our seats were great...15 rows up from the stadium floor...however, on the opposite side of our entry...so, more walking for M...who was doing great, I must add...of course, we entered the wrong area...and had to leap over a railing to get down to where our seats were...no injuries to report...ha ha...

The game...boring...it's like USC didn't want to be there...so out-coached...or under prepared...whatever...the same...I fear for the Trojans...as they hired this bloke...and he is 0-2 already...and there was a feel out period for Wisconsin...and just time until they realized they could do whatever they wanted...which they did...

You could feel and see it in the crowd...we were on the USC side...remember, I thought I was buying Ducks tix...and you could hear a pin drop...everyone was on their cell phones...unfazed by the inept play of their beloved (?) Trojans...not so on the other side...the Red Wave of Wisconsin...was everywhere...and noisy...at least, 4-1 Badger fans in the Q...they travel well...apparently...

We had enough...left before the end of the half...Wisc up 10-7...should have been more...and hit the Trolley back to the Gaslamp...not nearly as crowded...but still...by the time we got back it was well after 10...you know, we are not young kids anymore...ha ha...and stopped by Las Hadas for some grub...

Terrific food BTW...we all had something diff...my chicken fajitas extraordinary...the owners there said...that Wisconsin peops had been all over the GQ for like 3 days and nites...he said that they dominated...packing their place..."I'm pulling for them"...anyway, we got a seat right by a tele...and watched the last quarter and the finish off by the Badgers...who got screwed by a touchdown reversal earlier in the last stanza...kicked a FG and won it...good for them...they wanted it more...

A repeater?...only if the Ducks are in town...otherwise, no...the company was great, but the product, not so...an experience for sure...and another Big 14 school that likes their football...hmmm...

Tomorrow is Horse's annual year end wrap...the stories that made the year go by so quickly....you don't want to miss it...

Happy New Year!

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

The Ignominy

So much for diplomacy ... the absolute embarrassment by the current President of the US...his actions in 'hosting' the Ukranian President Zelensky ... as it turned out, a highly visual representation of bullying by trump...the manners and methodology that he uses on people...aligned with his arse kissers, waiting their turn to take potshots at Zelenksy...all well orchestrated ...it was the ULTIMATE IGNOMINY of our country's 'leader'...unfortunately, for us, too...as somehow we are connected to that ogre...in reality, we are not... hoping the rest of the World can see that...here are samples of the headlines throughout that depict the sentiment of the slaughter... We are NOT aligned with Putin...WE ARE NOT!...trump is ...which begs a different query...how much longer can this idiocy go on?... I keep asking this...what does Putin have on trump, anyway...it must be a formidable foible... Talk to me, kids... This ploy of the orange...to actually simulate a firing squa...

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
