When we got these tix, a good bit back...it was the best available for all...a group of us going to a concert on the bay...marvelous set up...outdoor seating with adjoining tables...we all brought food to share...got some bottles of vino...and set in to the night for the festivities....it really didn't make much of a difference who the "star" was...
And this voice emerged...as beautiful as any I've heard for some time...accompanied by her 4 piece band...and the SD Symphony...LeAnn Rimes...who we have seen before...she is just turning 33, and her sound is maturing unimaginably...spot on...and delivered a couple of hours of pure enjoyment...her best?...just may have been the Patsy Cline Tribute...there were many others...and, kids, she rivaled Carrie...that good...
Over a couple of blocks away...the Pads were going at it with the Saint Looey Cards...who are sporting the best record in beisbol...and wham, bam, boom...SD put up a 7 spot in one inning and whupped the visitors...for our 5th straight W...and 9 of the last 11...who's on a roll?...packed house...as was where we were...BTW, massive amounts of cars all over the GQ as we were walking the dog...
Turn back time...as I was reading on the Salem Statesman Journal site...the history of the Oregon State Fair...in Salem (the capital, er is that capitol?)...which was a life long staple for me...and us as we lived there for 50+ years...and we went every year...right before school started...scones, pronto pups, livestock viewing, carnie stuff (which is what I filled my college room with), and the horse races...which was my last hurrah prior to getting back into the class room...now?...they tore down the race track and it's parts, er the building...no longer part of the fair...boo...
Which brings me to Del Mar...which has all the above and still...the race track is there...and the $1 Million Pacific Coast Classic...where an unusual tidbit has existed forever...no mare or filly (girl, for you non-horsites) has ever won this race...until yesterday....as the clear fav and winner was the mare, Beholder...in a romp...and cruised by the guys...it was pure dominance...and on she goes to the Breeder's Cup...
Talk about turning back time...Tiger...is in the hunt at Wyndham...in Carolina somewhere...bogeyed the last hole yesterday, to finish at 2 back...and now today...for the final round...he has to win...to get into the golf playoffs...win?...shoot, he hasn't been this close for years...so there are happy golf fans roaming the tight little grounds there...can he do it?...I bet the pixels stats are off the board...
The Carson Bolts won their 2nd straight in the silly season...
