Steve Kerr

Sometimes one figures out why...trying to get into a bloke's head...and the stage being set as the one in the NBA Finals...as I had written that the Golden St Warriors had to make some adjustments...if they were to win...and alas, that's what they did...and they won...

I got to thinking more about it...the reason they weren't doing stuff...well, go to the old adage, "you dance with whom you brought", er, something like that...it's what got you in the finals...so stay with your program...UNLESS...you are the underdog...and you have to change some things up...

Exactly...so the brain trust, led by HC Steve Kerr...did that...let's talk about him for a bit...I have alluded to guys getting 1st year jobs...never before being the boss...or an assistant...in the pro's I do believe it's different...he has been in and around the sport all his life...there is a great article in this week's SI about him...

A very bright guy...who puts family above whatever he does in hoops...and has even put the game down for awhile, as his kids were growing up...so he can be there...he has been a standout NBA player...BUT...that doesn't make you a coach...you have to have a way with people...make them believe in what you say and do...he has that...

One of his assistants convinced him to go with the smaller lineup...another sign of being a good one...listening to the blokes who you surrounded yourself with...and trusting their judgment...give credit where credit is due...

Does this mean that the Warriors are going to win the thing?...nope...not at all...it just shows me that there is actual coaching going on...on both sides...if you listen to the pundits rant and rave about the style of play...you'd think that the players dictate what goes on...to a certain degree, that does happen...but overall, no...

I'm one that is surprised at the lack of use of more than 7 or 8 players...I always tried to play 10...I know, a different level for sure...but in such a long season...keeping more guys involved is a must...and fresh...a huge reason why the Cavs had a rough game 4...

In the end, it's just a game...a fact that Kerr addresses...that some forget...that cities and states blow way out of proportion...and...take to lambasting those who fail...and leap unfathomable praise on the winners...let's get real, kids...

I suppose there is some truth in that it is important to a city's makeup...a certain amount of pride that only the victor gets to cherish...I get that...but for most of us...it is fun...did I say that?...

I love the games...the chess match that goes on...and it's all positive...how you run, defend, screen, maneuver through the myriad of obstacles that are laid out in front of you...who you play, who you sit...who guards who...how you manage the clock...

I am not belittling the other guy in this...the Cav's David Blatt...he is being doing a super job...not nearly given the accolades that he deserves...he has adjusted way quicker than Kerr...because he had to...and it made the Warriors make a move...and now...with a much needed rest period...he has his team back and healthy...and ready to make a charge...

So...in the end...who gets the W?...my heart is pulling for the Warriors...but...really I don't feel THAT strongly...if you go by home court advantage...GS should win...but this game 5 is it...right?...

Nope...cuz these coaches will adjust...like I hoped they would...and I have no doubt that this series will go seven...

Set up your pixels to watch it kids....it's great entertainment...
