Preller's Game

You HAVE heard of the Pad's GM, right?...the dude who restructured this team in the off season...made quite a name for HIMSELF!...AJ Preller...I'm not going to give a pix of him...in my mind, that position should be behind the scenes...this is what he's done...

Brought in 3 new OF's, a 3B, a utility guy, a C, a starting P, and the best closer in the game...of course, the new owners, gave him money...which the previous GM blokes did not have...and yet...he kept the same on field manager and his staff...

The 65 game results?...a very average 32-33 record...and some of the acquisitions have not played up to expectations...and the strength of all of the seasons since we've been here...the starting pitching...has been way under par...the hitting is better...the closing staff has been a disappointment...

The one guy that has been the on field manager the entire time we have lived in San Diego is Buddy Black...at times, this blogger has shown frustrations in some of his game management...really...but...I would be doing the same with ANY bloke...there is no perfect one...and he has been given the distinction of getting the most out of an inferior talent field...I will buy into that quite often...

Back to this team...you have a new GM...with quite an apparent ego...and decided that it was time for change...in a very awkward space in the season...and fired Bud Black...and the games go on...

In comes one of the worst teams in baseball, the Oakland A's...we are using the bench coach as the manager...the rest of the staff remains...the only person missing?...Black...it was odd and confusing time...for many...ie, the players...and the A's lambasted the hapless Pads, 9-1...no match...

Rumors abound that there will be an interim guy named today...that the AAA guy from El Paso is in route...the former Ariz St head coach...Pat Murphy...who just may carry a fiery type of management...and just may get the tag...rumor...does he keep the same staff?...does he have the power to do so?...or does the big headed Preller do all that?...

BREAKING NEWS...Pat Murphy was indeed named the interim manager for the remainder of the season...coached at Notre Dame, Ariz St and recently at the AAA farm in El Paso...reportedly a fiery young man...more details later....

Other stuff...

Game 6 in the NBA Playoffs...lordy, is LeBron getting all the raves for his play or what?...many of the pundits feel that he should get the MVP of the series regardless of winning or losing...what?...he is the most selfish of all players THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN!...he even self proclaimed himself as the best basketball player in the world, in an interview after their loss at Oakland...eegads...try coaching that guy...

Maybe the Cavs will win...this game...in Ohio...and force a game 7...I dunno...but the east coast boyz are so full of it...I am now pulling for a GS win...

US Open...I can't remember so much controversy over a site...truly a links type course...in the US...and there are very long par 4's...I can hear the complaints now...I have to pick 5...possibles...I am at a loss...is John Daly in the field?...

FIFA ladies...the US plays Nigeria...I may watch some of it...may...

I just got an ad from Albertson's...thought they were done...and replaced by another...

When does the Letterman replacement start up?...

We took Sammi to a dog park...and she just walked by our side...

The Prez had a private function...Prince performed...and the list of 500 invitees?...mostly lobbyists...makes me cringe...

And FINALLY...the news you've been waiting for...the Donald has entered the Repub Prez race!...

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
