The Task Force

This is the name for the group that had a sole job of trying to come up with a viable solution for keeping the NFL Chargers in San Diego...rendering a new stadium for the team...there have been many sites talked about in the last 5 or so years...ie, Chula Vista, Escondido, Downtown, and the present site, out at Mission Vally...to name the primary ones...so...

Involved in the quickness of the final decision, was the fact that the city of Carson...part of the mega-city Los Angeles...has got a spot all picked put for the MAJOR OPTION for the Bolts...and is the carrot that is dangling with the team...

So...the owner of the team, threw out a curve ball yesterday...as he passed on the majority of the operations of the Chargers to his two 30 something old sons...and, in reality...created a NEW scenario for the team...to me, a glimpse of the future...new direction of ownership and new direction of calling a place "home"...

I have said for some time that the move is a done deal....and the Task Force has been trying like hell to come up with a viable option for the team to stay in San Diego...where it has been a valuable piece of the rock that the city hung their hat and reputation on...rich tradition back in the old AFL days...and a team that had a strong following....in a town that has many things to do...not just go to an NFL game...

Anyway, the TF came up with a newbie in the same area as the current one...out at Mission Valley...adjacent to Qualcomm...and with ideas about making a village surrounding it...sounds like a decent plan...with no taxes to the public...hmmm....the cost partly shared by the club itself, the county, and the increase in tix prices and parking prices...thus, if you want this to happen, the $ depends on those who go...which makes sense to me...

I fear that this is a futile effort...as the owners have already made up their mind(s)...as all the "experts" have said the value of the Chargers increases double with a move to LA, er, Carson...hmmm...let's see...if we move we now are worth $5 billion in lieu of $2.5 billion...now, what would YOU do?...

Of course, the money value that is being bantered about is all speculation...as the "experts" have also said that the city of LA is not enamored with the Bolts...that there is more love for the other possible inhabitant of the proposed stadium there...the bloody Raiders...who have to be going thru the same drama as this city is...

And now...the NFL is meeting up in NoCal....SF, I believe...and the hot topic, of course, is the moving of 3 teams to Los Angeles...in essence, we are talking the owners...here's bit of history for you...NO NFL TEAM has survived there before...and now...we are talking 3?...the Rams, the Chargers, and the Raiders...

It's all about the $...and what would make the owners the most...which is the quandary...is it really a good move for the league?...of course, each "mover" has hired big time lawyers to prove their case...here's my take...each of them are doing just fine where they are...so it is all about greed...and if they are allowed to exit, don't let the door hit you in the arse...too hard...well, maybe I hope it hurts...

How do I really feel?...

PS...how much validity do I give this group of owners?...this set of clowns still believe that a good name for a team is the "Redskins"...NOW, I rest my case...
