Bear (bare?) with me for just a moment...I must rant on the lack of BRAIN TRUST by the management of the Padres...in last eve's loss to the visiting Twins...the setup...we are going against the worst starting pitcher in the league (really, stat wise)...and go 4 innings hitless...yup, hitless...finally get going in the 5th and go ahead 3-2...none of that is attributed to my concerns...with the game tied in the 7th, is where I'm going...we get our first two guys on...and up steps our switch hitting C Grandal...Mgr Black subs R Maybin for him...what?...the Twins go with a sub righty pitcher...if we would have left Grandal there, and we were going to bunt regardless, it made NO DIFFERENCE what the Twins did...he's a switch hitter!...Maybin looks foolish and can't get a bunt down...we then sub in RIGHTY Hundley...who poops (pops) out...and then Deno, fresh from 3 straight K's...poops (pops) out...end of rally and end of inning....one more ugh...in the 8th, their C Suziki, hits a ball that may or may not be a HR off the top of the wall, where out LF Smith tried like the dickens to catch it...anway...the ball bounds back into the field of play...no signal for a HR, and Suzuki rounds the bases and tries to get an in the park one...Smith DOES not go after the ball, and after a brief pause, CF Venable, goes over and gets the ball and chucks it home...where, the newly subbed C Hundley, promptly misses the throw...send in the clowns...wait, it was done...I digress...

OK, I am trying not to dwell on this type of crap...but when it's thrown in our faces, I have to mention it...normally the Trib doesn't talk about this inept play...not this time...as the writer had his field day on the lack of proper management...yes, you could hear boos...not so good, when it's the home crowd turning....do not have blind faith kids...let's do this right...

Other, much more important stuff...

The corruption in the VA Hospitals...as the Prez is addressing it...brings to mind a big topic that is so important for the guys and gals who have been protecting us forever...it must be corrected and cleaned up...

DWTS...Max and the Oly win...just don't know how you can compare them to Derek and the no-leg gal...two totally different things in my mind...and both deserving...if there was any time for a tie, this was it...

Idol...easily the top two of this season...and if history proves itself out...the southern guy will win it...he is deserving...they both have qualities...can either one of them make it in the real world as a singer?...tough Q...the other singing competitions, the answer is NO...Idol gives you the best possible springboard...

And now...we are leaning against the Sleep Number one...just so confusing...the important thing is to get an adjustable bed...and there are 3 major makers of the mechanism...the problem is what goes on top of it...getting the right mattress combo...hmmm...

This from the goofy stuff...in AAA beisbol, the Albuquerque Isotopes (Dodger farm)...as the C of the team got real mad at his infielders...as the opponents were stealing bases like crazy...and not covering the bases...and he couldn't throw the ball...he erupted and got in an inner team brawl...and he bit one of the inf in the ear...well, if that were the case, most of our Pad's guys would be earless....
