Lanai

Good morning, kids...it's been a great trip....Cris and Leila gave us quite an anniverasry gift...a trip to Lanai for golf...beautiful...

Started with a 45 minute ferry ride to this smallish island...which was a nice, smooth ride...on the upper deck....and we were greeted by a shuttle to take us to the golf course...The Challenge...there are two courses on the island...one further up...each are in connection with two of the hotels...4 Seasons...they told us that the upper GC is 10 degrees cooler...

Met a super guy who set up the entire round for us...with such energy, that was infectious...told us it was a busy day...as there were 40 people on the course today...what?...like a private one...and off we went...

Just one hole after another...gorgeous water views...started on the back...the 12th hole had significance...you were hitting your tee shot completely over the ocean...fortunately, it was early and NO wind...but...the big deal was that was where Bill Gates got married...er, was to get married...yup, him...the good Dr had a great start, birdieing 3 straight holes...as time wore on...I just remained steady, shooting a pair of 41's...could have been an all time round, if I could have hit just a few putts...

The lunch...at the course...I should tell you it was fab...but...like everything there....was crazy spendy...drinks $15...cheez burger $21...we had the fish whatever...at a GC!...oh well...service was splendid...

Went to the 4 Seasons for a visit and tour...$400 a night...and waited for the ferry....

The shuttle got us there in about 3 minutes...and in line we got...the last ride out for the night...which everyone knew the times....lots of people...and then there was a bus of little league football kids...couldn't believe that all of them could fit on the little boat...

The ride...remember I told you about how calm the ride over was?...well... the trip back was not...rocking and rolling...as we all held on for our lives...reminding me of the Molokai trip...45 minutes became 50...the gals were not too happy...

Disregarding the trip itself, it was a splendid outing and gift...

The kids left yesterday...as we got back from the airport...and watched the Emmys at 2 pm...for as much as we could stomach....the production was awful...it is TV...and they didn't play hardly any clips of the yesteryear...instead, they talked about those who died in the past year...with no video of them...Sir Elton sang...as did Carrie...and there were no clips...perfect time to do so...absolutely lame...you know I'm not a fan of the awards shows...but this was the poorest one of them all...and who thinks that skinny guy on the Big Bang Theory is funny?...how does he win?...OMG!...or even Julia Dreyfus...sorry, she was good on Seinfeld...but please...

NFL...the Bolts choked...I can never figure that league out...

Got a Nook...very cool book reader...small as a paper back...and am reading a knock out...about the corruption in collegiate football...very interesting...

Alllloooooha!
