Made In America

Did you know 99% of the tennis, basketball, well, sneakers, are made overseas...not in the USA?  That at one time, there were over 250,000 workers in the business right here in this country...now, there are but 15,000...there is...ONE...brand still doing their business here...New Balance...but, even they are wavering...there is only one plant left...in Maine...let's look at the cost factor...simplified...the average wage here is about $10 hourly...over in China or Vietnam (the new spots) it is about $1.50...but the US sticks a 20% import tariff on the shoes...no problem for them...they just tack more on to the cost of the product to you, the consumer...so when you go out to get your new shoes, take a look at the man (or woman) in the mirror...buy US?  while you can...

As the entire city of San Diego would say, thank goodness for the Pittsburgh Pirates...not only did they take the high money contract of Ryan Ludwick, off our hands, but rolled over as the Pads went through town...SD scored 35 runs in 3 games...normally that's 14 games worth...so why?  Well, let's see, as the Pads head into NY to take on the Mets...

The Stock Market...WOW...and it's a bad wow...the last week has been an eye opener and just makes me wonder why I ever put $ in it...really thinking about taking the $ and buying another rental here...serious thinking...

Well, we didn't make the trip to Old Town...stopped in Little Italy and had lunch in lieu...biked down to the bay...ate at a cool English Pub and had some bangers...or something like that...and a couple of Bloody Mary's...

To follow up on my story yesterday...Adam Scott did win the Firestone thinger...and the crowd was as fired up about his caddie as was the actual golfer...and Steve Williams (the caddie) was interviewed after...by the tv...are you kidding me?

Monday, Monday...
