The Problem

I have been studying the problem of the demise of the Pads. I have been pointing most of the issues toward Bud Black. Yes he has been a major part of the situation, not pulling pitchers correctly, staying with pitchers too long, not replacing under-producing players such as Greene and all the catchers, the list goes on and on. But, the real problem is the cast he has been given. The GM, Towers, has shown inept ability to get the right players in the fold.
I explain. The Petco Park is a pitcher friendly one. Speed and line drive hitters should dominate the lineup. We have no speedsters. We have low average hitters who favor the long ball over the line drives.
Towers points his finger at how poorly his signers have been playing. It is time that he owns up to his mistakes. However, he shows little of this. He is the problem. A new direction is needed.
