Let's Twist Again

Time for a feel good story, right?
...it's hard to believe it took this long for Ernest Evans to get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...too often, these rock stars are let in, after they are gone...Ernest you say?...of course, he is known better as the one and only 'CHUBBY CHECKER!'...who had a string of cover songs in the early 60's that rocked the pop charts...and the dance floors all over the USA...shoot, the World...I give him the credit for actually 'dancing' without hanging on to your partner...the swing, or whatever it was called, was not my bag...some say I had no rhythm...enough about moi...

The knockout song was 'The Twist'...that was the one...TG for it...it was a cover from the legendary Hank Ballard...there is nothing like it...I guess, maybe Carole King/Gerry Goffin's 'Locomotion' was purnt near as consequential...it also, made it possible to 'dance' without holding hands...Little Eva's version was dynamite...still love hearing it on the radio/daddio...

Back to Chubby...his next was another dance crazed one...'Pony Time'...fun tune that got everyone up and dancing...BUT, his biggest hit of all, came shortly thereafter....in case you didn't get it, the first time...you surely did this time...'Let's Twist Again'...probably his biggest hit ever...well, it was....off he went into a limbo craze...yes, I said craze again...he up beat an instrumental hit by 'The Champs', and added lyrics to 'Limbo Rock'...so, yes the youngins about the States, were trying to dance under the limbo stick...

You can still hear the guy perform about the country...this is one concert we have yet to hit...even at the age of 83...he has rave reviews...he has 4 daughters, one, that has played in the WNBA...Mistie Bass be her name...anyhoo, this singer sure has the credentials for the Hall of Fame...

I think of this entry as one of the 'Sunday Morning' bits...as there are good, happy stories out there...in this miserable political climate that we are in...the first 100 days of boy orange...
