Back to Boxing


It has been a good long while that I have spent a Saturday eve watching a BOXING MATCH!...years, perhaps, decades...and it was way cool...none of these concussion protocols...that limit play time, no sireeee....to be perfectly honest, I can't imagine what these people do, being a BOXER...what they go thru, how they must train...knowing what the outcome might be...and on and on...suffice to say, it takes a special type to do this for a living...

The match was in Australia, Melbourne...a country I have never been...one of the combatants represented them...George Kambosos, Jr...estimated crowd of 40,000 at the stadium it was held...I assume a soccer one...he had belts that showed he was an undefeated champion...and from what I saw and witnessed...one tough hombre...these are 'lightweights'...about 134 lbs...his opponent, was an American, Devin Haney...an Oakland guy, that was said to be from Las Vegas....also, an undefeated champion of another sort...not sure how that works, but they hadn't crossed paths until last eve...

12 rounds, and it was a doozy...at times, Haney showed the similarities to the great one, Muhammad Ali...bobbing and weaving...jabbing and avoiding contact...at times...and in the clinch area, Kambosos, showed unbelievable belly crunchers...it went the whole way, and the judges made the decision of the winner...I can recall often in the past, the result has been very odd...in boxing, there has always been the notion of a 'fix'...not this time...as Haney clearly won, at least in the Horse's mind...and in the judges official cards, too...

I have wondered what happens after...a drink or two?...to these boxers...a trip to the doctor?...they have to be beat up beyond belief...and for goodness sakes, keep the masses out of the ring after the fight...it's like watching a hoops game where the fans rush the court...in this case, way too small an area...anyhoo, I enjoyed it...

Moving on...

A mass shooting...yes another...in the streets of Philly...3 dead and many injured...c'mon Repubs, you can do it...at least outlaw the AR-15's...you can do it...c'mon...until one is pointed at you...

For at least 3 years, the Padres have been keeping their 'prospect' under wraps...why I do not know...McKenzie Gore...Lefty pitcher...finally, they have let him represent the club...this season?...he has an earned run average (ERA) of an unprecedented 1.50!!!...oh yea, and we won 4-0...with our closer finally breaking his doldrums...

The Bums got beat by the Mets, 9-4...but as great as that is, that is not what baffles me...LA wanted to pitch a utility player in the 9th, and the umps wouldn't let 'em...a rule that was put in place in 2020...?...new to me and apparently their manager, Dave Roberts...thing is, the deficit is only 5...when we pitch we could give that up real easily...what is a 'bubble move?'...

Today, out in the streets of San Diego....there is a massive distance run...what you call them?...the streets are blocked off like everywhere....don't go out, not in your car...in fact, they were closed yesterday, too...weird and wack...'you’re  all winners!'...

Tonight the Celtics are trying to seal the deal on the NBA playoffs...gonna steal another from GS...5 pm start...in the Bay Area...

What would you do, if I sang out of tune, would you stand up and walk out on me?...

For youse keeping tally, I slept like 8 hours conglomerate last eve...awakened by Sammi clawing on my face at 2:30...true story...she had to go out...either that, or she was trying to make me STOP snoring...

I have friends who tell me they always win when gambling...and I want to buy me a boat...

Kevin Na, decided it was for his best interests to go and join the Saudi Tour...golf, ya'll...drop from the PGA Tour...and I say, good riddance...dude...

Help me out here...these colleges and universities...who are playing in their elongated playoffs for their respective crowns...in softball and baseball...have a huge amount of teams involved...as do the hoops teams...but, in football, there are but 4...ah, what is the diff?...the school the football guys will miss?...ha ha ha ha ha....it's the bowl games and the $, people...boooooooooooo...

I keep hearing that June 9th is the date that the Coup Committee will unravel their findings...pointing directly at donny....this could be real good...real good...

After Paul Ryan's comment about the real feelings of Repub Senators, over trump...orange let out that 'Ryan is weak'...no, bloke, you are the weak one...you sorry, ___!...(fill in the blank  with whatever works for you)...

I forgot this gem, if true...when Carrie Underwood was in the American Idol contest...she was enamored by the Queen of England...who voted for her over 4500 times!....true or false?...

This sure feels like a Belgian Wassie morn...

He is alive and kicking...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The distancing of trump with the public, was a bit weird, right?. ..he emerged and was talking the same...his appearance was a bit shaggy...he must have had the flu, or, well, Covid, or something...but, he is NOT DEAD....and still up to his shenanigans...same old...anything to bring up, to divert the people from hearing about the Epstein Files ...he unabashedly, called the whole thing a 'Democratic Hoax'... Hmmm...as 6 of the Survivors of it...(the Epstein Case) ...were talking, not only to the House....but, to the public, yesterday...as MTG was front and center with it...which, too, was odd...a fallout from trump?...or, a plant within the group?...no, trump, it is not a hoax.....

Hometown Baseball

You might think back to all the rivalries you have witnessed over the years...in high school, college, ah, well, team sports...shoot, could be choirs, math contests, and the like...BUT...the thrill of it all, is what I am talking about...I could name a hundred such things...that I recall...however, right now...there is one brewing in the Gaslamp...the Friars are hosting the Bums...believe it or not, this is new...you see, the Padres have been borderline pathetic for many seasons...not that they haven't had good ones...but, consistency has not been a virtue...things have changed...and the squad has deepened... The Bums have long had their nemesis, and or rivalry cat, as the San Francisco Giants...no mas...it is the Friars...the team that knocked them outta the playoffs last year...and here they come, to make avenge...3 games this weekend over at Petco...they have been playing super lately...really really super...the Pads?...hit and miss...my guess, is that the juices will flow for b...
