Under Appreciated

When we talk about pop singers, like of the decade... the really good ones...what names pop up in your mind?...hmmm, well we watched a special on one of them...that has hit after hit...in many genres, too...Linda Ronstadt...this was on CNN...the show was a spectacle of the many songs she has sung over the years...and, reminded me of the amazing ability she had to craft the songs, 'into her own'...gosh, how many times do we hear that phrase on the present day 'singing shows'?...

In that era, 60's...there were no talent based tv shows...to 'find' the new hit artist...you had to gamble your talent, and travel to LA to get 'found'...man oh man...like the many kids of that time....countless numbers, Cass Elliot, David Crosby, John Sebastian, ah, the list goes on and on...and Linda...sang where ever they could...get noticed...didn't take long for her, at 18...her first hit was with a group, the Stone Poneys...then, off she went...solo...

Her voice...was under appreciated...even now...as we look back at all her songs...I marvel at the purity of them...reminds me so much of Carrie Underwood...they each can sing ANYTHING...as beautifully as it can be...'You're No Good'...'Blue Bayou'...'When Will I Be Loved'...'Different Drum'...'It's So Easy'...'Hurt So Bad'...'Tumbling Dice'...'Ooo Baby Baby'...you see, she did not write...just interpreted...many of those were covers...but were hits for her as well as the original artist...

As Linda left the pop world, she ventured out into other genres...country, collaborating with Emmy Lou and Dolly...theater, doing a show on Broadway, singing near operatic...Mexican, to honor her father, who was a marvelous singer in his own right...big band, as she dealt with the music that her mother loved...50's, just cuz she could...and on and on....

Listen, kids...do yourself a favor...dig out your vinyl and give her a spin...or, find it on your streaming device for her songs...amazing, you will find...actually, I am going to my vinyl shop today...searching for some I do not have...her collaboration with Nelson Riddle is the booty...and now...she has lost her voice...Parkinsons...sad for sure...but, we can all get out and enjoy her talent...via the recorded music...please open up HER voice...

Other...

The aftermath...of the killing of the Iranian General...where is this going?...was this the right thing to do?...there are those who say yes, and those who say no...the Iranians are livid...but, weren't they already?...Trump has sent 3500 troops to the area...in prevention mode, I guess...escalation?...as I have been saying so often...let's just sit back and watch the spectacle...what else would you call it?...am NOT feeling good about it...we shall see...

Sad stories are filtering out...allegedly...that Trump was boasting about in his week stay at Mara Lago...that something big was about to happen...to not only his people, but to the hanger oners of the country club...this just prior to his drone attack and killing...you tell me...

Sports...

Lawdy, there are still bowl games going on...of teams that are 6-6 and 7-5...who cares?...well, Snooki, for sure...leading his own pool...ha ha...but the Pros are starting their playoffs today...wild card games...yes, I like, er dig them...the Titans (minus Mariota) at the Pats...dang that is an interesting game...and the Bills at the Texans...good matchups...

Hoops...the Ducks and Bevos both lost on the road...but, the gals both won at home...geez, the ladies are tuff tuff tuff...the Aztecs are 14-0...and not in the top 10...win one more and they will be...PDX beat the Wizards...hooray...as the diminutive PG of Washington, Isaiah Thomas, got booted 90 seconds into the game...oh my...bumped an official....geez, I watched the replay...trigger happy ref...I'd a thrown the official out...which, by the way, I did once in a summer league game...long story, but it was mighty fulfilling...ha ha....

Let's have a great weekend, right?...lose ourselves into positivity...I'm gonna try...

Top of the morning, friends...as we embark on a shortish Cosmo trip (6+ hours) up north to see the kids. ..we try to see them every month or two....whatever works for us, and them...school has just started for them...and Cy has both football and soccer, he is playing...Cas, at 3, is still a wannabe... The Ignominy

So much for diplomacy ... the absolute embarrassment by the current President of the US...his actions in 'hosting' the Ukranian President Zelensky ... as it turned out, a highly visual representation of bullying by trump...the manners and methodology that he uses on people...aligned with his arse kissers, waiting their turn to take potshots at Zelenksy...all well orchestrated ...it was the ULTIMATE IGNOMINY of our country's 'leader'...unfortunately, for us, too...as somehow we are connected to that ogre...in reality, we are not... hoping the rest of the World can see that...here are samples of the headlines throughout that depict the sentiment of the slaughter... We are NOT aligned with Putin...WE ARE NOT!...trump is ...which begs a different query...how much longer can this idiocy go on?... A Trial, Indeed

The revenge tour is ramping up ...as we gawk at the unchecked moves by trump ...even SCOTUS , the last leg of justice, is wobbling beneath his demands... this country is in disarray ...I wish I could give you better news... The unsightly attack of one of his Icetapo behemoths, on a lady in New York...taking her to the ground...an example of the uncontrolled behavior of that organization...guess that is what you call the group... simply, out of control, with NO LIMITS of force ...sad...and disgusting... The indictment of his former FBI head, James Comey ...for lying (imagine that from a legendary liar, trump) to Congress...this court case is needed for the country...to show the fallacy of the regime that is running rampant all over the land...it needs to be a BIG STAGE! ... A trial, indeed...
